I want to take a moment this morning to extend my congratulations to Jacob Baradziej and Nick Diflavio for winning the election in Ward 4. Nice work.

Just as importantly, I would like to thank you - my supporters - who provided me with a third place finish. I am very pleased that I was to be able to participate in this democratic process of electing a new council. It truly was a worthwhile experience.

Thank you to all who voted.

I spoke about updating our land by-laws and I think it is just as important to update additional Grimsby by-laws to "Best In Class" to include proactive Climate Change initiatives. It's a buzz term, but it truly is so important to be part of the change. Grimsby is uniquely situated between Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment and if we want to maintain the beauty of our city, we have to ensure stricter guidelines and by-laws when it comes to energy consumption and efficiency, environmental greenhouse gasses and emissions and conservation of natural resources.

If elected as Ward 4 Councillor, implementing more sustainable practices will be on my priority list.

Volunteering and participation within our community has always been something extremely important to me. When we help others, we all rise.

I have been privileged and lucky enough to be involved in many different community non-profits over the years including Community Living (Past Director), Niagara Community Foundation (Past Director) and the Grimsby Garden Club (Past Director and Treasurer). I have been a Past Director of the Rotary Club of Grimsby, of which I am currently Treasurer.

It is an honour to serve Grimsby in a number of ways and I hope that I am able to serve you all as Ward 4 Councillor in the upcoming months.

Tis the season for falling leaves. One of my favourite seasons really. However, I've noticed over the years that our dedication to clean up after our trees shed has been dwindling.

Trees are a precious, valuable resources. We must take care them alongside our homes, open land and parks. It should be a priority every fall to leaf up and keep our natural spaces healthy.

Did you know? The last audited financial statements posted to the Town of Grimsby's web site is for the year ended 2020. Numbers tell a story. If elected I will ensure greater emphasis on financial statement reporting and transparency.

As I've mentioned before, I've been a homeowner in Grimsby for over 30 years which means I've had the pleasure of contributing and being a part of some amazing community initiatives over the years. I have been honoured with Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship award which recognizes outstanding humanitarian service, and last year I was honoured with the Civic Award from the town of Grimsby for community service.

I am inspired to run for councillor and I truly believe that I can help make a positive difference for everyone in our town. I'd be honoured to have the opportunity to prove to you all what I can do.
