In April, the Government of Canada launched the Build Communities Strong Fund to invest in modern infrastructure, strengthen communities, and build Canada strong.

As part of this initiative, $1 billion is being delivered by Canada’s regional development agencies, including FedDev Ontario, to support local infrastructure projects across the country.

Starting today, eligible applicants can submit their shovel-ready projects.

The Build Communities Strong Fund is investing in modern infrastructure, strengthening communities, and building Canada strong.

As part of the fund, Canada’s Regional Development Agencies will support community infrastructure projects across the country, identifying projects that deliver economic, social, and environmental benefits for communities.

In the coming days and weeks, eligible applicants will be able to submit their community infrastructure projects.

New Horizons for Seniors just launched the 2026–27 call for proposals for community-based projects. If your organization supports older Canadians, you can now apply for funding!

- doubling the maximum grant amount to $50,000 per project
- establishing a new assessment criterion to encourage applications from organizations with a mandate or mission primarily focused on seniors
- requiring a Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) business number
- encouraging use of the Grants and Contributions Online Services (GCOS) portal for applications
