The Journal of Northwest Atlantic Fishery Science (JNAFS) is pleased to announce that the special issue following the symposium, "Applying the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management in ABNJ," held in March 2025, at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Headquarters in Rome, Italy, has been released.

The symposium, organized in collaboration with the FAO, Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO) and the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES), convened an interdisciplinary community of scientists, policymakers, legal scholars, representatives of regional fisheries management organizations (RFMOs), and other stakeholders, with the aim of advancing both understanding and practical implementation of ecosystem approach to fisheries management (EAFM) in areas beyond national jurisdiction (ABNJ).

This Special Issue brings together contributions arising from the Symposium and reflects the valuable work and discussions of participants on advancing the application of the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management in areas beyond national jurisdiction.
