On Tuesday several of our SPICE alumni had the exciting opportunity to participate in a Pitch and Feedback session with Pete's Frootique & Fine Foods!

For many of the participants, this was their first time pitching their business, making it a valuable learning experience. Throughout the process, they gained insight into product evaluation, retail expectations, food safety requirements, industry regulations, packaging considerations, and what it truly means to become retail-ready. The experience provided participants with a clearer understanding of the steps needed to grow and scale their businesses for retail success.

We are incredibly proud of all the participants for stepping outside their comfort zones, sharing their stories, and showcasing their products. Congratulations to everyone on a job well done!

And a special thank you to Pete’s Frootique for creating this opportunity and for supporting local entrepreneurs. We can't wait to see where this experience takes these amazing business owners next!

Boutique Eatery has grown into a unique business focused on gourmet gluten-free food toppings, antioxidant teas, and thoughtfully crafted baked goods where “every bite and every sip is designed to be both beautiful and memorable. We want to give a huge congratulations to our SPICE alumni Crissy Ventura, owner of Pinoy's Best Halifax, and Sandra Garcia, owner of Naguara Halifax, on being featured on the front page of The Globe and Mail!

Both business owners started with small home-based food businesses, sharing their Filipino and Venezuelan cuisines, and have since grown them into thriving, full-time businesses serving the Halifax community.

Through their hard work, determination, and participation in our SPICE program, they have taken important steps to expand their businesses, from food safety training and business licensing to accessing commercial kitchens, and scaling production. Today, their businesses continue to grow, sharing authentic, culturally rich foods to the community.

It's live!!!! 🎉

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new site! With immense gratitude to all who worked with us to bring our vision to life, we are so happy to be able to finally share it with you; our community of women entrepreneurs, ecosystem partners, supporters, and allies. One of our guiding principles with this redesign was to make a site that more clearly communicated what the CWB has to offer, and how you can access our range of supports. This site is for you!
