Looking for a new website? Escalate has just completed a new, accessible site for our client L'Arche Hamilton. This charity wanted something that reflected the joy of L'Arche and the gifts of friendship and togetherness. We also built an online store for their social enterprise, and integrated online event registration. It will forever be a work in progress but so happy for this launch. This made us smile. L'Arche is one of our clients, where those with and without developmental disabilities live life together. These are difficult times as normal routines are disrupted and members must remain at home for their safety. But, they are still sharing and laughing -- here was Sunday afternoon for two of L'Arche's members, Brian and Mike.

Some humour levity in difficult times, and a statement about how not to manage communications. I've received many emails from businesses wanting to reassure me -- the majority being irrelevant and obviously opportunistic.

Yes, "gifts" like labels, bags and cards do generally improve direct mail response rates. In a highly competitive market we are all looking for an edge, but does it have to be a one-size fits all solution? Do we really think the 49yr old male who received these places any kind of value on them? Do we really believe he personally mailed more than three envelopes the entire year? Let's be better at knowing who our supporters are and what they really want from us. (Hint: it's not 134 flowered labels)
