Last night, leaders from business, government, education, and the community came together for the inaugural Climate Innovators Gala hosted by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Mohawk College’s PIVOT Conference.

Featuring keynote remarks and a fireside conversation with former Premier and former Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations Bob Rae alongside Mohawk College President Paul Armstrong, the evening explored how climate action is increasingly shaping innovation, investment, workforce development, and economic growth across Hamilton and beyond.

Some key themes from the evening:
• Climate action is economic opportunity
• Hamilton is uniquely positioned to lead through innovation and advanced manufacturing
• Retrofitting, electrification, and clean technology will drive future growth
• Collaboration across business, education, government, and the community will be essential
• Long-term progress will require persistence, adaptability, and leadership

A recurring message throughout the evening was that sustainability is no longer separate from business strategy. It is becoming central to competitiveness, resilience, and long-term growth.
