The Historic Facade Restoration Guild The Historical Facade Restoration Guild serves to:

1. To provide a consulting service to all interested parties

To promote adherence to the government of Canada’s guidelines as adopted by the Guild through education and consultation.
2. To be the source for advice, approved contractors, materials and methods for those restoring historic built heritage facades in Canada.
3. To provide project management for historic restorations
5. To provide education and training in historic restoration methods

6. To be in association and provide recognition with and of approved contractors, architects and governmental agencies in the field.
7. To provide accreditation and recognition of projects that meet Guild standards.
8. To archive all historical restorations meeting Guild Guidelines in Canada.
9. To publish newsletters as to Guild activities and historical restoration works.

The delicate art of cleaning soft old brick. Not only does the equipment need to be the best but the experience of the operator is paramount.
Here the crew from Absolute Blast Corporation Mobile Sandblasting use the Wet Vapour Blasting unit with the finest grade of crushed glass mixed with water plus just the right of pressure. Then it's the skills of handling the whole apparatus that really matters.

A revolutionary advance in the cleaning of heritage buildings is the new technology in steam cleaning by Absolute Blast Corporation in Hamilton Ont. No abrasives at all, no high pressure water, no chemicals, it all works on a low pressure stream of very hot steam which pops off the layers of paint leaving the original brick and mortar in it original condition.
A huge change in the restoration of old soft brick and terracotta in particular.
