GreenHousing Program
Today people of all financial level encounter a difficulty obtaining fresh produce. This frustrates any healthy diet. Although financial constraints and availability of trustworthy food sources weigh on the situation, They are
not the reason for the dysfunction. With current available technologies and infrastructure, fresh produce is possible for everyone all year round. This is a reality that would not manifest without knowledge and guidance. This facility would provide that opportunity for everyone living, or willing to travel to, the Hamilton area. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach Him to fish he will eat for a lifetime. The facility will teach hands on, skills and methods for all technical levels. no matter what technical or financial level the learner, this is a primarily educational facility, so they will always have more available to them than they can use. The luxury of a customized learning package. The southern ontario region is home to a cornucopia community gardens which serve already as places of learning for those interested in sustainable personal food production practices. An initiative has been undertaken to donate greenhouses and equipment of educational usefulness to said community gardens. The materials are donated by private and/or recognized sponsors. The labor is provided by volunteers from both the GiS and sponsors. Priority is given to those facilities with the most children as visitors and to those where the food generated is shared among people living in the immediate vicinity, as opposed to food bank supporters and private plot renters. high profile and visibility locations are also favored. In out list. Members choose three things that they have to offer to their community. They in turn must identify three needs that they believe crucial to them personally. The society then matches the ins and outs of the members and attempts to use the leftover offerings of the members to get the needs met. It is encouraged that members make their lists composed of one comfort, one economical and one skill item.
