Now the work behind the walls starts to show.

After all the framing, waterproofing and preparation, we’re finally setting tile in this basement shower.

This is where all those earlier decisions start coming together—and the homeowner gets to see their new space take shape.

Old wood doesn’t need to look new to have a new purpose.

These barn boards were left over from a home built using material from a historic barn. We’re giving what’s left another life as an outdoor patio table.

The worm holes, checks and cracks are part of the story, so rather than hiding them, we’re preserving them with clear epoxy.

Timmy came by to handle the pour and help us get these boards ready for what comes next.

Some repairs are built to last longer than the ones before them.

Replacing these heritage porch post caps meant carefully lifting the structure, removing the old caps, and installing new ones built for the next chapter of this porch’s life.

Sometimes the most important work is the part you’ll never notice.

The best results start long before installation.

For this project, we built every door jamb from rough lumber instead of using pre-manufactured stock. It gave us complete control over the material and every step that followed.

Watching Jude work through the process is a reminder that quality isn’t created by one machine. It’s built one decision at a time.

Great craftsmanship is passed down, not handed over.

Every finished piece starts with understanding the material.

This project gave Jude another opportunity to learn what can’t be taught from a book, how to read the grain, understand how wood behaves, and why every step in the milling process matters.

Those lessons aren’t learned in a day. They’re passed from one generation to the next, one board at a time.

The tile gets all the attention. The waterproofing does all the work.

Long before this shower looks finished, we’re building what’s behind it. We choose products we trust because the goal isn’t just a beautiful shower, it’s one that’s built to last.

Jude and I are getting this one ready for tile.

Some projects become a family effort.

Every replacement piece for this heritage porch was built, sanded, primed, and painted in our shop before installation.

Alisha and Jude tackled the larger pieces while Olivia made sure even the smallest details were covered.

Good work starts long before installation day.

A great paint job starts long before the paint comes out.

Paint doesn’t hide imperfections.

It reveals them.

That’s why we spend the time sanding every drywall repair, then sand the original painted surfaces to remove old paint defects and leave a clean, uniform surface for primer.

The sanding can be messy, but with the right equipment, we keep the dust under control and your home cleaner throughout the process.

When the first coat of paint finally goes on, it isn’t doing the hard work.

It’s simply revealing the preparation underneath.

Good finishes are built before the first coat of paint.

When it’s finished, nobody should be able to tell where the flood stopped and the rebuild began.

That doesn’t happen by accident.

This basement had already been repaired after a previous flood, but we knew the finished walls would only be as good as the work underneath.

So we started by undoing the old repair.

We removed the existing corner bead, flattened the corners, raised the drywall joint, and feathered every seam wide so the repairs disappear instead of standing out.

We also straightened a twisted support column, reinforced framing where it was needed, and centered every electrical box so the finished room feels clean, balanced, and intentional.

Most people will never notice those details.

That’s exactly the point.
