BREAKING NEWS: A decision has just been posted on the Environmental Registry (ERO) regarding Complete Applications. For those of you familiar with the development process, peer reviews of engineering studies prepared by professional engineers (PEng) are commonly required by Municipalities prior to approval of a development application such as an application for Site Plan Control Approval. The new regulation now identifies professional engineering as a prescribed profession. What does this mean? Municipalities are now required to accept technical studies and reports prepared and stamped by professional engineers in the first instance as satisfying complete application requirements (without requiring further review or revisions). This designation encompasses all engineering subspecialties as every engineer works under the P.Eng. in their area of expertise. This is developing news, so further details are required. For more information on the decision, please see the ERO listing.
