It is with profound sadness that Tulmar shares the passing of Bernard “Barney” Bangs.
Barney’s journey with Tulmar spanned decades. As a founder, he played a defining role in shaping the company into what it is today. But his legacy extends far beyond the business itself. It lives in the people he believed in, the leaders he developed, the opportunities he created and the relationships he built throughout his life.
Barney was a pillar of Canada’s aerospace and defence community, leaving a lasting mark on the industry.
Barney had a remarkable ability to make people feel that they mattered. He knew employees by name, asked about their families and treated people with the same respect regardless of title or position. Fairness, inclusion and creating opportunity were central to how he lived and led.
There are many people at Tulmar who knew Barney not only as a business leader, but as a mentor, colleague and friend. His influence will remain part of Tulmar for generations to come.
On behalf of everyone at Tulmar, we extend our deepest condolences to Jane, Ryan, Rob, the entire Bangs family and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
A celebration of Barney’s life will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at The Royal Ottawa Golf Club.
