And just like that, our vineyard is picked.
Every last cluster is off the vines, and we are so incredibly grateful to everyone who came out and helped us get it done. Harvest takes a lot of hands, a lot of long days and a whole lot of teamwork, and we had such a good time doing it together.
But picking the grapes is really only the beginning.
Now the action moves into the w**ery, and this is where Richard, our w**emaker, really gets to have some fun.
This time of year is about watching, tasting, smelling and making decisions as the grapes begin their transformation into w**e. Fermentation gets underway, grapes need to be punched down, tanks and bins need constant attention, and Richard is keeping a close eye on how everything is developing.
And while Richard is the one guiding the process, harvest at Traynor is very much a team effort.
Everyone pitches in. We punch down grapes, move fruit, clean equipment, check ferments and do whatever needs doing to keep things moving smoothly under Richard’s direction.
There’s something pretty incredible about holding a cluster of grapes in your hand knowing that this is where it all starts.
The vineyard has done its part.
Now it’s our turn.
