Living Wage for Families BC works with communities across BC to calculate their local living wage. The living wage is the hourly amount that each of two working parents with two young children must earn to meet their basic expenses (including rent, childcare, food and transportation) once government taxes, credits, deductions and subsidies are taken into account.

With the cost of living rising, this commitment is more important than ever.

We are proud to be a long-standing member of this community and we’re thrilled to meet other like-minded organizations tonight at the Living Wage for Families BC x Vancity mingler.

Does your workplace pay a living wage? Tell us in the comments!

We couldn't let this anniversary go by without a celebration. 🎉In the two years since we partnered with Backpack Buddies and Hope and Area Transition Society, we've transported roughly 14,000 bags of food to children in need in Hope, Agassiz and Boston Bar!

Mattress Recycling and Backpack Buddies deliver 200 bags of food to the Hope Food Bank each week to help hungry children in the Fraser Valley.

It starts with the truth, with learning our true history, with educating ourselves. We asked Indigenous-owned book stores what books they’d recommend for learning and they said:

• Unreconciled by Jesse Wente
• Dog Flowers by Danielle Geller
• 21 Things You May Not Know About the Indian Act by Bob Joseph
• Half Bads in White Regalia: A Memoir by Cody Caetano
• Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer
• Black Water by David A. Robertson
• In The City of Dirty Water by Clayton Thomas Müller
• My Privilage, My Responsibility by Sheila North

Check out Indigenous owned Raven Reads and Massy Books online and in store 🧡

It matters where you buy your books (and everything else for that matter). Find features about these and other Indigenous owned businesses on (link in bio) and support Indigenous owned businesses!

Dear Hope residents: we wanted to update that our household recycling tent is permanently closed. We opened it on a trial basis and will not be continuing with the program for a number of practical reasons.

We understand it fills a need, however; so if you would like to see it continue with a new host, please reach out to the District to share your thoughts. They are the point people for any future Recycle BC programs.

Thanks for all the visits and support! It was a great experience and fun way to meet our neighbours. We remain open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays for mattress, furniture, metal and metal appliance recycling 🛌 as well as batteries, foam, car seats and clothing/textiles.

Notice to Hope residents: Our public recycling tent sustained extensive snow damage and will be closed until further notice. ❄️ We apologize for the inconvenience. 604-RECYCLE is your guide for where to take things in the meantime if you are unsure.

Wishing everyone a happy new year!

We would like to advise that the public recycling tent will be closed Tuesday Dec 21 and Thursday Dec 23 due to snow safety precautions. Thank you for understanding.
