We have decided that we are going to taking a bit of a different approach to our Instagram. Instead of just posting what our building look like we are going to be diving deep and going over some of the details that make our projects so special. While also posting pretty pictures.
For this first post we wanted to go over an assembly that we love.
This is a raft slab condition with a 4” eps insulation base then our 15 mil v***r barrier Stegowrap from followed by our rebar chairs, structural rebar mat and pex in floor radiant tubing.
There are many benefits to using a thick barrier like stego. One of the main ones for me personally is the durability of the product, the rebar chairs have a lot of weight on them wanting to push through the stego but they don’t, the stego even stretches a little bit to allow for some heavier loads. 6 mil poly would have holes all over the place.
Another reason is the system. We’re always talking about house as a system and this is a small part of that. All the products that stego pairs with the wrap is meant to work together. The mastic, the tape, it all works together for an impenetrable system.
It’s also a bright yellow which adds a bit of flare to the sites.
