So Sisu and I are driving out in the boonies minding our own business and we come across these 3 apparitions. Can you imagine if it was dark and you caught a glimpse of these guys in your headlights? About 12 feet tall I'm guessing. Take care, be kind . Doug and Sisu

This Jeep had an engine wiring issue that supposedly was caused by critters chewing up some wiring. Most people do not know that since the 2000's, many manufacturers have switched to a soy based coating for automotive wiring looms. Better for the environment and there probably is a cost consideration as well. The end result however is an attractant for our little friends here in Muskoka and an inevitable tow back to the shop for repairs. I looked up how many different models and brands of vehicles that may have soy or similar based loom technology on the market today and counted over 40 different vehicles in production. Many of these are popular models sold in Muskoka. There are a few work arounds to address this issue, but none are foolproof. Just a heads up for you folks. Thanks for using our services. 1966 was a good year. This Oldsmobile Cutlass was equipped with a 330 cubic inch engine, power windows, automatic transmission and to top it off a vinyl roof.....living large. This model targeted family and upscale gentlemen according to GMs advertising of that era. This particular Olds has been a member of the same Hamilton family since new and is now looking forward to the next chapter in Muskoka. Thank you for using our services. Take care , be kind. For the past few years I have been driving past an older blue Mustang car that is parked in a driveway beside a little house. A lot of the times, an older gentleman has been out there drying the dew or rain off it. I have never seen snow on the car, it seems it was always brushed off, at least when I went by. There is no garage . The car has licence plates on it, so I assumed someone was driving it. The other day while driving by, it occurred to me that the Mustang must mean a lot to the owner, or why would you spend time cleaning it up on a regular basis. It's not a show car by any means but has value to someone. On my last call out that way, I stopped and dropped off a little car care package. I knocked on the door and a man answered. He told me that the Mustang belonged to his brother . I explained why I was there and I gave him the car cleaning supplies and told him that I had passed many times and to see them out there doing their best to look after that car, good weather or bad I knew that it must be special to them. Crown land camping and way back in the bush. Keys were locked in the rv. Side windows were heavily tinted and had magnetic sun shields and front windshield had sun shield as well. To add a little flavor, it started to rain. So this one we had to get owner to direct us to the contact point while I worked the tool inside the door to get it opened. Wasn't my fastest unlock by any means, but we got it done. No damage and a very happy camper. Sisu even was very patient waiting in the service vehicle and got to meet the campers once we were finished and had a little walkabout to empty his tank. Should you have issues with your brand new EV on its first camping trip? Well that depends on how many times you use the electric opening rear hatch, interior lights, outside temperature and so on. Anything that is electrically powered by the 12 volt system is using power to activate. Your key fob is communicating with the car and vice versa. In some cases the Data Communication Module is talking to the cloud even if the car is turned off and the electronics are in so called " sleep mode" and that communication is not dependent on your cell phone pairing with the car. Some manufacturers have built in a procedure for the owner to turn off the search feature on the key fob to reduce active loading on the 12v system when not required. This is the reality of the new vehicles on the market today. So the answer to my question is yes you may have issues. It is worthwhile to ask lots of questions about that new vehicle and find out what you can do to make that first trip a success. There definitely is a learning curve here both for us as service providers and you as a new owner. Take care, be kind Doug and Sisu

I like small towns. I stopped in Bruce Mines ( population about 600 ) on a recent call and went in to the local Pharmasave Drug Store. I needed one bandaid. That's all, we have more than enough at home and probably will never use all that I have. The druggist, Kourosh went through his inventory trying to find a small box of them, but was out of stock. He said to hang on a second and went to the stores first aid kit and took out a few. I tried to pay for them but he refused payment. Kindness in any form is much appreciated and well worth paying forward. A special thanks to this gentleman and Central Algoma Pharmasave. Doug

Sault Ste.Marie, sunset, empty parking lot around 7 am view from hotel window and then heading out back to Huntsville. Long trip to take a vehicle up there for a client. I love that drive and the diversity of the scenery. Ontario is a special province that we are lucky enough to work and live in. We had a great talk and my passenger shared stories of him growing up and traveling around northern Ontario. ( PS. I name all my trucks.) The Hino 258, we call " Nuff". Sisu and I met a lady who now is the caretaker of a 1956 Mercury. A Mercury first was the new 12 volt electrical system replacing the old 6 volt system. The shift was a "Three on the tree", and it had a foot pump windshield washer on the floor. If you know, you know. Back then the Mercury Niagara model was only offered in Canada. Her father, who raced a Ford stock car thought he should buy a Mercury and that was how the Niagara came to be a long time member of the family and enjoyed attending many car shows here in Muskoka.
