Details:
85 hours bi- weekly, in a professional land use planning firm in Huntsville Ontario in the heart of Muskoka. The position is suited to a planner looking for a challenging experience assisting private sector clients navigate through the planning and development process in cottage country.
The majority of planning proposals and applications are related to recreational residential properties, the firm also has carriage of files for commercial, rural, and industrial development.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Provide advice and recommendations to clients seeking direction on developing their properties
• Acting as liaison between clients and approval authorities
• Liaise and coordinate related team professional to achieve the clients planning objectives
• Prepare a variety of applications for planning and land use approvals including but not limited to, technical reports, sketches, planning justification reports and general policy review and research to accompany applications
• Liaise with approval authority staff and attend at various committees, boards, and Council
• Prepare appeals and evidence and attend at OLT from time to time
Qualifications
• Minimum Bachelors degree in a planning related discipline
• Five or more years of applied planning experience
• Member in either OPPI CIP or both
• Knowledge of the planning systems in Ontario and the Planning Act and PPS
• Proficient research and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral
• Able to work independently
• General knowledge of the geography and planning framework of cottage country and the near north
• Proficient skill in operating the Microsoft Suite of programs and AutoCad
Working conditions:
This job is located in a professional office and a smart casual dress code applies.
Site inspections will be required from time to time. Mileage is paid by the firm.
Salary:
The firm has a graduated salary scale based on merit that is updated annually for cost of living.
The salary range for this position is $96,000-$130,000 per annum and 3-5 weeks paid vacation.
After a probationary period; a full benefits package with all premiums paid by the firm accompanies this position. This position also enjoys enrolment in the company’s Group Retirement Plan where the firm will match contributions. Membership fees in OPPI or CIP will be paid by the firm.
