Last month, from February 17–19, FJMC held our second in-person meeting in Inuvik to continue developing the ISR Seal Plan. We extend our sincere thank you to all the community members who travelled to Inuvik to participate, as well as those who joined us online. Your time, dedication, and the knowledge you continue to share are invaluable to the development of this plan!

Last week FJMC held our Regular Board Meeting and HTC Presidents Meeting in Inuvik from October 7-9th. During this meeting we recognize the recipients of the annual FJMC Co-operative Management Award, given to a partner in recognition of significant contributions to our co-management efforts. FJMC is pleased to present the Imaryuk Monitoring Program as the recipient of the 2025 FJMC Co-operative Management Award! FJMC started funding activities and working with the Imaryuk Program in 2018, and since then we have been delighted to witness the continued growth of the program.

Notable achievements include the development of the “One People, One Plan” document that represents the interests of Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk along the ITH, collection of integral fish and fish habitat data in the lakes and creeks along the ITH, success in international partnerships with the BARIN and CINUK research programs, and collaboration in a CBC Nature of Things documentary on beavers to bring awareness to the overpopulation issue in the region.
