A few new Google reviews have come in recently, and it's always encouraging to hear feedback like this from my clients.

The majority of my work now focuses on off-grid and battery backup systems, but I still enjoy helping clients with their home electrical needs, particularly through the winter months when off-grid installations naturally tend to slow down.

Whether I'm installing a battery system or a new light fixture, my goal remains the same: to provide quality workmanship and practical solutions tailored to each client's needs.

A lot of design work taking place behind the scenes this past week...

I recently helped a client design an upgrade for their aging off-grid system. One of the biggest challenges was that they had to be selective about which appliances they could run at the same time.

By replacing the lead-acid batteries with lithium, doubling the inverter capacity, and adding solar panels to help keep the batteries charged, the upgraded system will give the client a lot more flexibility in how they use their power.

They'll now be able to run their washer and dryer at the same time, which wasn't possible with the old system.

This is a great example of how thoughtfully upgrading an existing system can make a big difference in day to day living.

Remote work in a pretty incredible location.

Last week I was at Campbell Icefield Chalet working on wiring the new addition to the custodian cabin. It was also a great opportunity to check on the off-grid system, which incorporates micro-hydro and 1,600 watts of solar, that I installed last year.

Overall, the system has been working great, and it was a pretty spectacular place to spend a work week.

I've installed quite a few EV chargers now.

Commercial units, like the one I installed in Radium last year, can be a great way for businesses to offer charging to customers while also generating revenue.

For homeowners, a Level 2 EV charger provides much faster charging. These can often be installed using your existing electrical service, provided your panel has the capacity to handle the additional load.

Just another type of electrical project I fit in alongside hybrid and off-grid systems.

For many, going off-grid is the dream, but figuring out how to power a remote property can be a daunting endeavour.

Fortunately, planning custom off-grid systems is something I really enjoy (and have become quite good at).

Sizing a system is not as cut-and-dried as putting solar panels on a roof and installing a couple of batteries.

Properly designing a system requires a thorough audit of how the property will actually be used. That means looking at daily electrical loads, heating, water pumps, seasonal usage...How much energy do you need during stretches when the sun doesn't shine?

That's where I come in.

For remote cabins, recreational properties, or full-time homes, I can help design and install a complete off-grid system: solar, battery storage, inverters, and generator integration tailored to your specific needs and budget.

Latest Off-Grid Install

This project is well underway, and it’s going to be a substantial system when it’s finished.

17 kW roof-mounted solar array
SolaX inverter system
SolaX battery storage

The goal with a system like this isn’t simply putting panels on a roof. It’s about designing the solar, inverter, and battery storage to work together as a complete energy system for the home.

There’s still plenty of work to go, but looking forward to seeing this one come together.
