Here’s a very quick look at something we believe has never been done before: the integration of forward-looking infrared imagery directly into a Garmin G600 glass cockpit within a wildfire simulation environment. This is a major step toward higher training fidelity, giving crews access to the kind of situational awareness and decision-making tools that reflect real operational needs.

Just a very quick demo of our custom G600 glass cockpit with integrated TCAS and FLIR camera. It takes a minute for the FLIR camera to cool down and initialize. The sim isn’t connected to a training session so you won’t see any traffic on the TCAS and there isn’t a fire for the FLIR to see but you get the idea 🙂

The audio panel is one of those controls that simply works so much better as real hardware. An AAO or HLCO might never move their hand from the dial and switch between multiple radios and frequencies without looking, once they become competent.

Here’s a first look at the TC695 Commander 1000 simulator we’re building for Air Attack Officer training.
The system is being developed to closely match real-world operations, using our Lorby Wildfire Response software and a custom cockpit layout designed for wildfire simulation training.

The video shows fire intensity that would prove challenging for any aerial fire response, and a structure being consumed by fire. While this is familiar territory for many of us, it reflects the kind of real-world conditions we continue to face — especially during a season that saw hundreds of homes and businesses lost across Canada.
Training to this standard isn’t just about tactics — it’s about mental readiness. Realistic exposure during training has been shown to reduce stress under pressure and can help lower the psychological toll during actual incidents. It’s one more way we prepare to make better decisions, stay safer, and support long-term resilience.
