Three years of Land Based Love. 🌱 An initiative that reflects our belief that winegrowing begins with deep respect for the land.

In partnership with the Central Okanagan School District, Indigenous students explore our vineyards and culinary gardens through land-based education in organic agriculture practices, sustainable land stewardship, and the connection between healthy ecosystems and winemaking.

Led by our grounds team, Trevor Jenkins, and culinary garden lead, Amber Bouchard, caring for the land means creating spaces for learning, community, and future generations to stay connected to it.

Cover crops play an essential role in the health of our vineyards. Growing between the vine rows, they protect the soil from erosion, improve water retention, and contribute organic matter that nourishes the vines over time.

When these plants come into flower, they also support biodiversity, attracting beneficial insects and pollinators that help maintain a balanced vineyard ecosystem.

What appears as a simple moment in bloom is part of a much larger system, quietly sustaining the land and the vines season after season.

An expression of our Home Block vineyard as it comes to life. Arrowleaf balsamroot in bloom, beehives re-emerging, and wildflowers carpet the slopes. Crimson clover and mustard thrive between the vines, restoring balance and biodiversity to the land.

Some summers are tasted, not told.

Dry, sun‑filled days and early ripening naturally reduced yields, allowing the vines to focus their energy and produce fruit of exceptional vibrancy and quality. The 2024 Platinum Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc unfolds with herbaceous lift, elegant gooseberry, and gentle tropical tones, finishing with vibrant acidity and a lingering saline, coastal note.

A thriving vineyard starts from the ground up.

This Earth Day, we’re celebrating the living soil beneath our vines. At CedarCreek, our estate vineyard is a true ecosystem: Highland cows gently break up the soil, worms improve root pe*******on and drainage, bees pollinate cover crops and wildflowers, and chickens help manage pests while aerating the earth. Together, this biodiversity strengthens soil life and supports healthier, more resilient vines.

Before Home Block became what it is today, Chef Neil Taylor saw CedarCreek as a place where thoughtful food, great wine, and a strong sense of place could come together.

“From the moment I first visited CedarCreek, I was blown away by its potential and the beauty of the Okanagan. Even before Home Block was finished, I knew this was a project I wanted to be part of. Watching the winery grow over the past eight years has been the most exciting time in my career and I'm incredibly proud of what we’ve built together.”

Now, that story is shared with his son Jack, often found working alongside him, learning, growing, and continuing a family passion for food that brings people together.
