Daylight savings is coming up this month, but it doesn’t have to throw off your schedule.

Start adjusting baby’s bedtime & nap-time about 5 days beforehand, by 15 minute increments, and you’ll barely notice the difference.

Let me introduce you to Evie.

Before starting her program, Evie was waking 3-4 times per night,
often wanting to play instead of sleep, and always needed a bottle to go back to bed.

However, this little superstar began sleeping through the night on Day 2 of her program. Now, Evie falls asleep without her bottle, and stays in bed until morning. Her mom did an amazing job following Evie’s sleep plan.

Meet baby Drew...just 2 weeks ago Drew was waking multiple times per night and taking short naps. She needed to be held, rocked, and soothed to sleep. Every. Single. Time.

Today, Drew falls asleep on her own, in her crib, without mom’s help. She’s sleeping at night and taking longer, restful naps during the day.

This is thanks to her parents, who did an amazing job following Drew’s sleep plan.

Congrats on your !

Many parents believe that sleep is natural, and a baby will learn to sleep through the night when they are “ready”.

But here’s the thing, I work with families all the time who believe their babies are just “bad sleepers”, only to find out that it only takes 3-5 nights following a sleep plan to fix their baby’s nighttime issues.

Sleeping through the night is a learned behavior. Some babies are taught early, while other children still struggle well into elementary school years.

So to answer the question “When will my baby sleep through the night?”...

The answer is...Whenever you teach them how!

Just last week, this little cutie-pie was waking his mom up multiple times per night to feed, and had never slept in his own room.

Now, Beckham falls asleep on his own, in his crib, and is giving his whole family a peaceful night’s sleep.

Some babies experience up to 7 colds and flus in the first year of life... this definitely impacts sleep!

Sick babies need to sleep more overall - waking baby from a nap in order to keep her on a schedule is not necessary, as she likely needs extra sleep to recuperate

Baby may be waking more frequently during naps and night sleep - coughing and sneezing makes it harder to stay asleep.
But the good news is, if your baby was able to sleep through the night before a cold, she will be able to do so again, once healthy.

Positive sleep habits may need to be reintroduced once healthy - Some babies learn that calling out at night while sick gets attention from mom and dad, and may continue to do so after the illness has passed, but quickly reverting back to positive sleep habits will get your little one back on track.

Confused about nap times?

Sticking to a schedule is a lifesaver, but can be confusing when your baby doesn’t wake & sleep at the exact same time each day - I know this is an issue for families who are travelling for the holidays.

Instead, use this chart as a guide to know how long your baby should be awake between each nap, how many naps they need each day, and how much sleep they need in a 24 hour period.

Happy Holidays!
