I made rhubarb jam today. I hadn’t planned on it. But the rhubarb has been ready for a while now. That didn't used to happen. Not because I didn't want it to. But there was always something more urgent. Something that had to get done first. The simple stuff kept getting bumped.
I won't pretend we've figured it all out. We're still building. Still learning what it actually looks like to have a day that belongs to us.
But the jam's on the counter. And that felt worth saying.

Last year in June we were in Banff for part of our trip to Drumheller. This year, we will be there again, with family from Taiwan this time. If you have been in Banff National Park before, what was your favourite thing? Is there anything you would avoid?

I don't usually share testimonial posts, but Sana's story really stood out to me.

For 26 years, she dedicated her life to teaching and helping others. Then a series of health challenges made her stop and ask an important question:

"What if I need a Plan B?"

What I admire most isn't that she found an online business. It's that she was willing to learn something new after already establishing a respectable career.

I think a lot of people reach a point where they realize they want more options, more flexibility, or simply another path forward. The challenge is that most people never take that first step.

Whether it's starting a garden, learning a new skill, or building a business, growth often begins with being willing to try something different.

Sana's story is a reminder that it's never too late to learn, adapt, and create a new chapter.

What part of her story resonates most with you?

For years, I struggled with aphids, slugs, and other pests in my garden.

What finally surprised me wasn't learning how to get rid of them—it was learning how to prevent the problem in the first place.

Sometimes the biggest breakthroughs come from changing the system, not working harder within the same one.

That got me thinking about how similar gardening is to business.

When we don't know a better way, we tend to keep doing the same things over and over, even when they're not producing the results we want. It took me years to learn some simple gardening lessons that now seem obvious.

Business can be the same way.

That's one of the reasons Jennifer and I appreciate being part of a community where people openly share what's working. Having a proven process doesn't guarantee success, but it can help you avoid years of unnecessary trial and error.

Whether it's gardening or business, growth takes time, consistency, patience, and a willingness to learn.

What lessons took you way longer to learn than they should have? 🌱

Today was not a good day. My mood matched the weather which was gloomy to say the least. But then I remembered what my wife Jennifer told me - when I feel this way go for a bikeride. And so thats what I did. Surprisingly I got back with a lot more energy and a good appetite. That one action turned it into a good day. Thanks honey 😀

Business is like a garden—it grows slowly with time, care, and patience.

Keep showing up and giving it attention, and it will grow.

The deer are not going to like what I did. After all my strawberries were eaten I decided it's time to invest in an A frame deer fence.

Hey guys, I just wanted to show you a quick snippet from a group call we had today. It’s a friendly reminder that no one is perfect but you’ve just got to put yourself out there.
