And just like that, it’s November.

Anyone else starting to feel a building of restlessness as the end of the year approaches? I had a look at the intentions I wrote down at the beginning of the year for my business and while I’m proud at what I’ve done this year, there’s a few things that I meant to tackle that didn’t get done like:

• Post weekly on Instagram
• Finish a website development course I signed up for at the beginning of the year
• Seek out networking opportunities
• Publish one blog post per month

I love having goals and I love accomplishing said goals. But what I’m also learning is that to go about life rushing from one goal to the next takes me out of the present moment and leaves me feeling disconnected. When I find myself too caught up in my to-do list, I’m usually rushing rather than enjoying, deriving all my sense of accomplishment and worth out of doing.

So to anyone out there who can relate, here’s what I’ve been telling myself lately: there’s still time. Things will get done when they do. Stop rushing, start enjoying✨

I don’t like to say there are “rules” when designing your website, but there are a few key things to keep in mind that will make a big difference when building an online home for your business.

One of the most important decisions you’ll be making when designing your website is choosing the right platform to build your site with. Luckily, there are quite a few platforms to choose from and today I’ve published a blog post that goes into detail about one of my favorite platforms, Squarespace, and why it’s a great choice for small businesses.

Out with the old and in with the new! I’m excited to share that this weekend I hit publish on my new website.

This is the first major overhaul I’ve done on my website and I’ve come out of the process with a deep sense of appreciation for all of my clients who have taken the steps to build an online home of their dreams. The process required me to open up the cupboards of my business, pull out everything, clean out the cobwebs and only add back in what felt most aligned. I renamed some services, put some offerings on the back burner, and gained more clarity of what my focus is for the rest of the year.

While I’ve come to realize that our digital spaces are always a work in progress, I’m so happy with where I’ve currently landed and would love for you to take a peek and explore for yourself.

[New blog post] One of the biggest decisions you’ll make when building a new website is choosing the right website platform. This is what you’ll be using to actually create your website and it should be a platform that not only supports your growth but is within your comfort zone of being able to learn. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

My newest blog post (and the second post within my website DIY series) walks you through three of my favourite website builders. Click here to start reading: https://www.kaitschmidek.com/blog/choosing-the-right-website-platform

At the beginning of this month, I released a free Website Content Worksheet. As I was putting this worksheet together, I realized that I was just skimming the surface and there was so much more I wanted to share about building a website from scratch. So I went back to the drawing board and have decided to start a weekly DIY series (in the form of blog posts) that walks you through how to build the website of your dreams.

The first blog post in the series is now live on my website and is all about a crucial first step that is often overlooked. Before you decide on a platform, start writing content, and designing your website (we’ll be going into detail about these in later posts), you need to do yourself a favour and spend the time putting together, what I call, a Website Game Plan.

For the last week, there has been a freebie on my mind that I’ve wanted to create for those who have been thinking about launching a website and find themselves with extra time on their hands. This weekend I was able to sit down and put pen to paper (or rather fingers to keyboard) and am so excited to introduce you to my free Website Content Worksheet! 20 jam-packed pages that walk you through how to create content for the critical pages of your (new) website. I’ve spent the last 7 years fine-tuning the discovery process I go through with clients for website projects and I’ve taken some of the crucial areas of this process and packaged them into a downloadable (and printable!) worksheet. If you're like me and have an (unhealthy) love of calendars and stationery, then I have a treat for you. I've added a free download to my website with 12 printable 8.5" x 11" sheets for each month of 2020. They've been minimally designed so that you can add your own important dates and flair.
