If you’re anything like me, the back-to-school season means more than just new routines—hello, cold season! With my little one back in class, I’ve been under the weather and juggling content & work hasn’t been easy. But I know the pressure businesses feel to keep posting even when you’re ill.

So, I’ve put together a few tips to help you manage your social media when fatigue (or the sniffles!) hit hard.

Whether you’re battling back-to-school bugs or just needing a breather, these bite-sized tips will keep your content rolling without adding stress.

Take care of yourself first—and remember, your community will still be there when you need a moment to recharge.

Summer memories!

Here’s what I’ve been up to while I’ve been on a hiatus.
I can’t say I’ve struck the perfect work/life balance. I will say though that it has been a great summer so far. We have a little bit more to go to really pack in some more outdoor fun until I revert to house hermit (I’m not a winter girly, although I do LOVE autumn).

What have you been up to this summer?

Does this mean you should use this feature? Not necessarily.

If you think it’ll fit into your strategy, then fill your boots and post 20 slides.

Like with all new features or old, don’t use it just because it’s there. Use it if it makes sense for your content

Meet Samantha from

While not necessarily a business owner, Samantha is an amazing creator who shares her love of farming on her little homestead on the unceded Anishinabe Algonquin Territory.

She was one of the first people I met in my business journey. She is a kind human being who walks the walk and is unapologetic in her beliefs and allyship. On her page, you’ll find cute animals, a wealth of information on farming, and unwavering support for marginalized communities.

I followed her for the farm animals, I stayed because of her unwavering belief system, penchant for sharing reels about parenting and being neurodivergent (get you a friend who loves the same kind of reels, amirite), and of course because she is such a genuine person with a kind heart.

If you’re not already, you should be following EZ Peasy Little Farm. Learn about her homesteading journey. See some cute animals.

Pro tip: I can’t!

There is no magical 1 hour course that I can give to help you make $10k/month on here.
My good friend recently posted a great post about copyright scams on Meta and how not to fall for them.
I would give a similar warning about falling down the rabbit hole of paying for a course that promises instant growth or instant revenue.

Instead focus on:

- Creating a strategy using your business goals as a guide
- Posting consistent & high quality original posts (this is what meta is going to be favouring over stock images and posting daily)
- Creating a community through your stories & engagement. Stories are a fabulous way to show who you are behind the scenes and engagement helps people feel connected to you, whether it be by replying to comments, DMs or doing lives.

The truth is, while things have changed a great deal because of technology, some things will never change. There will always be a get rich quick scheme.
Your time (and money) is better spent on building a strategy that works and a community that may turn into leads.
Hard work and consistency is where the magic happens.
No need to sell photos of your feet or sell your soul to Karen who peaked in high school.

And if you need more guidance on how to build a strategy or community, ask away in the comments!

I’m sure most of you know this gem of a human, Lyndsay Bigley owner of .social.co

Harbour Social Co. is a boutique social media agency in Brockville.
Lyndsay offers Social Media and marketing services and leads workshops in the community. She has such an amazing eye for social media and her expertise is invaluable.
Take a trip to Brockville and you’ll likely see her friendly face giving directions to tourists or taking content of the beautiful surroundings.

On a personal level, I met Lyndsay through instagram (as social media managers will do) and actually only met her in person yesterday but it felt like I was meeting up with an old friend!
From the start of my business, she was so supportive and had been incredibly helpful and has never made me feel new or inexperienced or unwelcome in the social media space.

She is warm and kind and I am happy to have been able to meet this wonderful person!

A true believer of building up the community!
(The last photo is of me wearing the awesome crew neck she gifted me, I made her be my human tripod).

We’ve been making it a point to visit the Kemptville Farmer’s Market more this year, and it’s been such a rewarding experience. There’s nothing like strolling through the market, seeing all the local vendors with their fresh produce, homemade goods, and unique crafts. The live music adds such a wonderful vibe, making every visit special.

As a local photographer, I love capturing the heart and soul of these community gatherings. Whether it’s the hustle and bustle of the market, the joy of a community event, or a special celebration, there’s something magical about these moments.

If you’re looking to capture the spirit of the or any local event, I’d love to help you tell that story through my lens. Let’s celebrate our amazing local farmers and artisans together!

Welcome to the first edition Women in Business appreciation posts.
This new series of posts will highlight women who I have worked with, admired and constantly take inspiration from.
The first one was not a hard choice given everything she’s endured this week.
Say hi to Alana Wi******er.
She is a brand photographer whom I admire and to whom I owe a great deal of gratitude.
Not only is she talented, she is unfailingly kind. She is so ready to help lift people up and has been instrumental in my move to becoming a photographer. I have learned so much from Alana. She is so talented that one could expect her to gatekeep and keep her secrets to herself, but that is not who she is. She is so ready to share helpful tips (and she is also down to be my model whenever there is time and light strikes my fancy).
I have had the pleasure of assisting on a number of Alana’s photoshoots and the way she makes her clients feel comfortable is something to aspire towards.
The outcome of that is so easy to see in her photographs. The photos that result in these shoots exude confidence, happiness and complete brand awareness.

Unfortunately this week has had a little bit of a snag for Alana when her account was taken down. So if you can, I encourage you to follow her along on her journey through brand photography.

We can all stand to be a little more like Alana as we hope to lift each other up instead of competing against one another.

Oh and she took my most recent brand photos… It may almost be time for new ones .photography 😉
