NO CALL TOO SMALL — OPERATION RESCUE McSQUAWK!

Kingston District Fire Department Chief recieved a phone call from a concerned parrot owner and asked us to assist with a rather unusual rescue today — a house parrot stuck approximately 50 feet up a tree!

Being a house bird, his wings were clipped, meaning he could fly just far enough to get himself into trouble… but definitely not far enough to get himself out of it.
Our crew used our Aerial Ladder and successfully brought our feathered friend safely back to terra firma.

No call too small! Whether it has four legs, two legs, or two wings, KDFD is here to help!

🚨 Our dispatchers handled a total of 1,095 fire emergency calls throughout the month of September. ☎️

Every call is a team effort, involving many moving parts behind the scenes to ensure the right resources are dispatched where they are needed, when they are needed. As always, a huge thank you to our Valley Communications staff for everything you do each and every day. Your hard work and dedication helps keep our communities and emergency responders safe. ❤️

September 11, 2001

Twenty-five years later, the events of September 11th remain etched into the history of emergency services and into the hearts of those who serve. As dispatchers, we spend our days behind the radio. We answer the calls, gather the information, send the trucks, and stay connected to the people working on the ground. We may not always wear the boots or stand at the scene, but we are part of the emergency response from the very first transmission.

On September 11, the radios carried messages that no dispatcher ever wants to hear. Calls for help came in while firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and other first responders ran toward the danger.

We remember every life lost.

We remember the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while trying to save others.

We remember the dispatchers and communications personnel who continued answering the calls and still carry the weight of what they were hearing through their headsets.

And we remember the families, friends, and communities who were forever changed that day.

For those of us who sit behind the radio today, September 11th is a reminder of why our voices matter. Why every call matters. Why every transmission matters. And why, when someone reaches out for help, there is always someone on the other end listening.

🔥 Celebrating 5 Years of Evan at Valley Communications!

Evan has officially been part of the Valley Communications family for 5 years! And if that wasn’t impressive enough, Evan brought another 11 years of dispatch experience with him from a previous communications centre.

Over the years, Evan has brought experience, knowledge, dedication, and plenty of laughs to the dispatch floor. His commitment to supporting our team and helping keep our communities safe is something we truly appreciate. ❤️

And, of course, we can’t forget to mention that Evan is also a supervisor…
Which means he has somehow survived years of supervising us. 😂
More importantly, he’s somehow survived 1 whole year of that as my supervisor. I think we both deserve an award for that. 🏆🤣

Congratulations on 5 years with Valley Evan, and 16 years of answering the call! We’re lucky to have you on our team. Here’s to many more years behind the radio! 🚒📻❤️
