In the almost three weeks since the last update, there have been some encouraging developments on the healing front. X-rays show that the fractures are mending nicely. With her brace unlocked now, Julie has a consistent 70° range of motion. She can’t put weight on the left leg yet however, which means she’s completely dependent on her walker still. Getting out of the house and into the van for appointments is still the greatest challenge. Pain is minimal now. She began physiotherapy last week at CBI Health in New Minas and faithfully does the recommended exercises each day as she really wants to be able to walk and drive before the end of summer.
Her clients are really missing her services if the number of calls and messages she receives is any indication! Thank you all for your kind thoughts and donations as the weeks pass.

Hello friends and family,
It is 12 days post-injury and today Julie had further X-rays on her fractured leg and her orthopedic surgeon was confident that the approach being taken would suffice and that no surgery would happen at this time. The bones are in alignment because of the rigid brace she was released from hospital with. Tomorrow she will be fitted with a special locking range of motion brace which is partially covered by insurance and which your donations will provide the remainder of payment. For this and other needed supplies and assistive items, we are truly thankful.
We have a wheelchair as of yesterday from the Canadian Red Cross loan program. It has an elevated rest for her left leg so she can attend medical appointments and when ready, physiotherapy.
Julie still tires very quickly and using a walker requires strength in the upper body and abdominal muscles. With each day, her resolve grows to be less dependent on Cate and her supporters.
Please know that we reached our original goal of $7500 in a remarkably short amount of time. This will be a recovery of twelve more weeks minimum so any further monies are appreciated as she adapts to her situation. Thank you, each and everyone.
