SIDE HUSTLE GRADUATE: KENZIE SCHAFFER

At just 15, Consort student Kenzie Schaffer is already building a business of her own!

Kenzie has officially completed the Meridian Community Futures + Return to Rural Project Youth Side Hustle Program with her business, Western Wildflower Designs.

Kenzie creates metal-imprinted jewellery and accessories, including necklaces, rings, bracelets and keychains. She has invested her own money, supplies and plenty of hours into developing her business and creating pieces she can sell online and at local markets.

Congratulations, Kenzie! We love seeing young people in our rural communities take an idea, put in the work and turn it into something real.

Kenzie is participating in the Meridian Community Futures + Return to Rural Youth Side Hustle Program, where she'll continue developing her skills and learning what it takes to build a business of her own.

This hands-on, module-based program is designed for rural youth ages 12–18 who are ready to explore entrepreneurship, creativity, and what it takes to start and run a small business.

Whether it’s baking, photography, lawn care, handmade goods, services, or a brand-new idea — this program helps youth take action, think creatively, and build confidence along the way.
