Community Futures Meridian Community Futures is a non-profit organization that provides loans, advice and support. Entrepreneurial development centres that provide business training.

Community Futures are Non-Profit Organizations guided by a volunteer board of directors and staffed with business professionals, who together are actively engaged in helping to develop and implement community-based economic development strategies. Business development centres that control and manage investment funds from which they make fully repayable loans (up to a max of $150,000) to start or expand a business. Are proactive, progressive community organizations dedicated to strengthening both their community’s and their community’s economy as a whole. Community futures Meridian Region is represented by a group of local volunteers pursuing regional economic development and employment by:

Providing an investment fund for new or growing businesses

Promoting the importance of youth entrepreneurs

Community Futures Meridian Region fosters community and regional partnerships through liaisons with local, provincial and federal groups to enhance rural service

Providing general, technical and financial assistance to new or existing business ventures

Funding Opportunity for Municipalities & Communities

Planning a project that could make your community more sustainable, resilient or energy efficient?

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Green Municipal Fund provides funding to help communities move important projects forward — from infrastructure upgrades and climate-smart buildings to clean energy, affordable housing and community resilience initiatives.

Funding can cover up to 80% of eligible project costs, depending on the funding opportunity.

🏘️ Funding may include:
• Grants for plans, studies and pilot projects
• Loans for eligible capital projects
• For many capital projects, an additional grant of up to 15% of the loan amount

Got an idea? A hobby? A side hustle? Or just curious?

Meridian Community Futures’ Youth Side Hustle Program isn’t only for youth who already have a business.

It’s also for young people who want to explore what starting a side hustle could look like.

Maybe you:
- already sell something or offer a service
- have a hobby you’d like to turn into a small business
- are looking for a homeschool project
- want to use entrepreneurship as a class assignment or learning project
- have an idea but have no clue where to start
- are simply curious about business and want to give it a try

That’s exactly what this program is for.

Youth can work through the program as a hands-on introduction to entrepreneurship, learning how an idea becomes a business, what things cost, how to price and market something, and what it actually takes to earn money from an idea.

You do not need to have it all figured out before you start. The learning is part of the experience.
