Greetings to all. It's been a very busy winter, so it's been a long time since I've posted. I've completed a bunch of radio projects, but I haven't been very good at keeping up with the paperwork.

This is the latest addition to the shop. It's a Western Electric model 302, manufactured between 1945 and 1955. It has been restored to working order by the Matt and the crew at Old Phone Works right here in Kingston Ontario, and is now my shop phone. Please check them out at:
www.oldphoneworks.com
or at their shop at 10 Binnington court in Kingston.

This is a really interesting read, especially for those who are into short wave radio.

“MDZhB” has been broadcasting since 1982. No one knows why.

I just finished this 1946 Regal Ultradyne L-46 a few days back. I'm really happy with the results. I was a bit of a mess when I got it. Time for a new restoration album!

As friend of mine sent this to me today. I had to share. Thanks Pete!

I finally found a variable transformer to add to my shop. It allows me to power radios by manually increasing the voltage from 0v to 120v using a dial control. Doing this allows one to slowly apply power while minimizing the strain on the electronics.

This one had no casing and no plug receptacle so it required some fabrication to make it functional. It tested perfectly with a multimeter. I decided to use an old damaged radio cabinet to house it. The cabinet I used was from a 1947 Westinghouse. This cabinet required no modification, so it can be returned to its original purpose should a proper chassis come along. I calibrated it using my multimeter, so it's ready to go!

Well I've been away from the radios for a bit, (working on them at least. I've acquired some really interesting sets, which I will share in later posts,) as my son Nick and I have been busy resurrecting my old high school car, which I have had for nearly 30 years now.

This weekend I attended the London Vintage Radio Club swap meet and flea market. I sold some radios and met some really great radio enthusiasts! I'm hoping to make this an annual trip.
