Job Overview
We are an Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) consulting company servicing construction, industrial, and surface mining clients. We’re looking for a Health & Safety Consultant to join our team and support clients through site visits, inspections, and compliance auditing.
Salary dependent upon experience,
Key Responsibilities
Visit client job sites to conduct inspections, field assessments, and compliance audits.
Identify hazards and non-conformances; document findings clearly and objectively.
Complete written inspection/audit reports with practical recommendations and corrective action guidance.
Support clients in meeting applicable legal and client-driven requirements (e.g., OHS legislation, standards, and site rules).
Facilitate and/or deliver toolbox talks, orientations, and safety meetings as required.
Assist with safety program development and implementation (policies, procedures, JSAs/JHAs, hazard assessments, safe work practices).
Support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions, when requested.
Build trusted client relationships through professional communication, responsiveness, and a solutions-focused approach.
Maintain accurate records, schedules, and documentation while working independently in the field.
Qualifications
At least 2 years of construction site experience in a safety position (safety coordinator, health and safety representative or active JHSC member.
Experience conducting job-site inspections and/or audits in construction.
Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and control implementation.
Ability to write clear, concise reports and communicate findings to both workers and site management
Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to client sites.
Comfortable working independently, managing multiple client priorities, and meeting deadlines.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and common reporting tools.
Assets Considered but not necessary
Experience with document control platforms and contractor management systems
Experience with client prequalification platforms and contractor management systems.
Training/experience with incident investigation methodologies.
Auditing experience against COR/ISO or internal standards.
Valid first aid, WHMIS, WAH, confined space, and other common industry certifications (as applicable).
NCSO, CSO, CHSC or equivalent
Work Environment & Travel
This is a field-focused role requiring regular travel to active job sites. You will be required to follow all client/site rules and use appropriate PPE. Work hours may occasionally vary based on client schedules, shutdowns, or project needs. You will report to the office at the start and end of each day. Company vehicle provided for site visits.
