“We hired Deanna as our little one heavily relied on rocking/soother/bottle in order to sleep. Bedtime wasn’t terrible, but daytime naps were awful and he would only contact nap. We knew we needed a change as this was not working for our family anymore. From the very beginning Deanna made us feel at ease and was confident she could help us have Theo fall asleep independently! This meant no sleep props (soother, rocking, bottle)! The first night couldn’t have gone smoother and his daytime naps, it took maybe a day or two and he was totally able to fall asleep on his own and have long naps! Deanna made herself available to us when we needed it and was always so encouraging when I was unsure of a wake window or he had an off day with short naps! Sooo it happened! Clocks have officially went back! Did you not have a chance to gradually push back their schedule or did your attempts not work out as planned? Don’t worry! Here’s your backup plan:

So this is in some way or another how your mornings looked this morning:

Early schedule today
Wake up 6:30 (technically 7:30)
Nap 10-11:30 (technically 11-12:30)
Nap 2: 3-3:45 (technically 4-4:45)
Bed: 6:30pm (technically 7:30)

So how do we get back to the regular schedule since our attempts to push back wasn’t successful? (It happens!! Babies are unpredictable. We can only do what we can to help them but they have minds of their own.)

Try to push back their schedule by 10, 15, or even 20 minutes every day until their schedule is back where you need it to be! There will probably still be that early morning wake up during the adjustment but keep pushing and eventually you can get back to their regular schedule! *Remember to not only push back bedtime but naps as well.*

For example from the schedule today, try this today:
Wake 6:30am
Nap: 10:10-11:40
Nap 2: 3:10-3:55pm
Bedtime: 6:40pm

🍂 Daylight Savings Time 🍂 FALL BACK! Don’t forget to swipe!!

Mark your calendars - this year’s daylight savings fall back is on November 6th. Let’s be prepared! *save for later!*

Best strategy (At least for my family!): start placing your little one to bed 10-15 minutes later each night.

So on Oct 31st, if your baby's bedtime is 7pm, we are going to put them to bed at 7:10pm. (Works out pretty good because they will most likely be staying up a bit later anyways because of Halloween!!)

Here’s what it will look like:
October 31st: 7:10pm
November 1st: 7:20pm
November 2nd: 7:30pm
November 3rd: 7:40pm
November 4th: 7:50pm
November 5th: 8:00pm

SO now, when you put them to bed at 7pm on November 6th it is really 8pm! You will now be back at your 7pm bedtime.

Remember that if your little one is taking naps, you’ll have to adjust those times as well (and wake up times!)

Three other tips:
- Increase their schedule the day before by 30 minutes.
- Do nothing!
- Use the week after the time change to adjust backwards.

I haven’t done an about me post in a while so here it is 🧡 here are three facts you may not know about your local sleep consultant 💭
1. I’ve been wanting to be a sleep consultant since we sleep trained Enzo at 18 months but only decided a little over a year ago to dive in! (And so happy I did!!)
2. My favourite part about being a sleep consultant is talking with other mums and sharing our experiences as being a mom. It’s so tough not to have people to talk to during the 1st year of your baby’s life (especially if you have them young like I was with my first.) Connecting with other women who are going through the same thing as you is beyond helpful I can’t stress it enough (if you haven’t heard me say this, I always say “Always here to chat” and I truly mean it!)
3. My favourite part of having children that are sleep trained is when I get to wake up early & get ready for the day. It gives me time to think about what I have to do for the day without immediate demands from my children 😅 who feels me on this one? 🙋🏻‍♀️
