The Power of Starting 🌱 Swipe through for a little proof that starting something new is always worth it, even with all the feelings that come with it.

Starting Sapling Kitchen + Events came with excitement, doubt, fear, and a lot of “can we really pull this off.” Turns out, that’s a shared human experience and Starter Company Plus, through the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre, is where a lot of our “pulling it off” actually started.

We first walked in as a side hustle running events on weekends. The program gave us mentors, structure, and a room full of local food entrepreneurs figuring it out alongside us and turned The Broken Ice Company from a weekend project into the confidence to build Sapling Kitchen + Events full time.

Fast forward: we’re now a licensed commercial kitchen space in Kitchener-Waterloo, built for food entrepreneurs who are ready for their own “starting” moment. Whether you’re testing a product, meal prepping at scale, or need a licensed space to grow your food business, our kitchen is open for rent, no massive lease, no build-out required. Just walk in and start.

If you’re a food entrepreneur in Waterloo Region sitting in that hesitant-but-excited place we were once in, Starter Company Plus’s fall cohort applications are open now, and we cannot recommend it enough.

And if you’re ready to start cooking, our kitchen rental spots are open too. DM us “KITCHEN” and let’s talk.
