Long weekend vibes 💖⛱️🌞 Slowing down and soaking up some family time at the cottage this weekend ☀️🌿

A good reminder that life isn’t just about routines and discipline — it’s about balance. Move your body, nourish yourself, but don’t forget to laugh, relax, and enjoy the moments that matter most.
Hope you all find that sweet spot between healthy habits and a little fun this weekend 💛

🚨 BREAKING RESEARCH UPDATE 🚨

✨A 2026 multicentre gait-analysis study conducted across 5 North American rehabilitation and performance labs is challenging the long-standing recommendation of walking as a primary exercise intervention.

✨The 10-week study followed 624 adults, comparing a standard walking group (30 minutes/day) to a variable movement group that used carries, incline marching, step patterns, and multi-directional loading.
Using motion capture, force plate analysis, VO₂ testing, and fatigue questionnaires, researchers found that the walking-only group demonstrated:
✔️reduced lateral movement adaptability
✔️repetitive sagittal-plane loading patterns
✔️lower carryover to real-world tasks requiring speed changes and direction shifts
✔️significantly increased reports of “I already walk all day”

✨The authors concluded that while walking remains accessible, its overuse as a default prescription may limit broader movement resilience and functional strength adaptations.
Effective immediately, we will be replacing all walking programs with intentional chaotic movement strategies.

✨This is a major shift for the rehab world.

Let's analyze the end position while my client with chronic neck pain is performing this banded row. The photo on the right could be more effective for her because her arm stays stacked straight under her shoulder, which keeps everything lined up and stable. This lets the bigger back muscles (like lats) do the work while the shoulder blade stays anchored to the ribs. In the left photo, her elbow drifts back, which makes her arch her chest and rely more on squeezing her shoulder blades together, putting extra strain on the shoulder joint and using her upper back and spine to “cheat” the movement. The right position could be better for her because of the stacked alignment, cleaner scapular mechanics, fewer compensations, and better lat + core integration keeping her posture stronger, and the pull safer (a key point for someone battling neck pain) and more efficient.

Just some food for thought. Open to anyone's feedback or comments on this 🙂

There’s something so incredibly refreshing about getting outside and moving your body in the winter air! I spent an hour and a half cross-country skiing today, and it felt amazing. I grew up cross country skiing and continued throughout my adult years, but I haven't been out since I was pregnant 4 years ago! Thanks to two of my clients who encouraged me to go this morning when I had a rare 4 hours where I didn't have any clients booked.

The quiet of the trails, the crunch of snow under my skis, and that crisp, fresh air filling my lungs — it’s like an instant reset for the mind and body. Cold cheeks, warm muscles, and that steady rhythm that just lets you breathe and be present. Nature really has the best kind of therapy. ❄️✨

I'm not a huge winter person especially given the freezing cold temperatures we've had lately, but on mornings like this, we see how winter can find its way to be beautiful. When the trees are wrapped in frost like crystal, the sky is a crisp bright blue, and everything is still and quiet, we learn to slow down and look a little closer at nature's wonders. I captured this photo this morning and took a moment to appreciate the calm stillness as though everything had just paused to let the sky breathe ❄️❄️❄️

Plus, Wiarton Willie did not see his shadow this morning predicting an early spring! 😀🌞🌷
