German Canadian Hunting & Fishing Club (Hubertushaus)

German Canadian Hunting & Fishing Club (Hubertushaus) The German-Canadian Hunting and Fishing Club (also known as Hubertushaus during Oktoberfest) is the perfect year-round venue to rent for any occasion.

Officially known as the German Canadian Hunting and Fishing Club. During Oktoberfest, our clubhouse is transformed into the Festhall known as Hubertushaus. We are an authentic German Club nestled on eight acres of countryside on the outskirts of Mannheim. The Club's Members originate from all parts of German-speaking areas of Europe and our membership continues with second and third-generation Can

adians. In the 50's, many new Canadians had the desire to spend their leisure time hunting and fishing in their new environment. On January 21st, 1954, a group of thirteen dedicated men decided to form a hunting and fishing club so that they could become more familiar with Canada's wildlife and at the same time contribute to the protection and conservation of her immense natural beauty. Tradition & Culture
From the very beginning, the members strived not only to hunt and fish together but to interact socially as well. The first social function to be established was the Hasenpfeffer. Over the years this was followed by Hunters' Day, Fish Fry, Picnic, Schlachtfest, Jaegerball, Oktoberfest, and a family Christmas Party. To this very day, the desire to interact socially, to promote the preservation of the German language, and to maintain German customs and traditions as well as the German culture remains a focus for all. Our Future
We continue to have big dreams for our organization and thanks to a collection of members with diverse backgrounds who can provide broad perspective and valuable insights we will endure to shine. Involving new members, expanding membership, and embracing the next generations remains a priority to ensure a new source for continuous energy.

“You know what we’ve been thinking about lately?”

How quickly summer starts to disappear.

One minute it feels like there’s all the time in the world, and the next minute we’re saying, “I can’t believe it’s already September.”

That’s why we wanted to tell you about something now instead of waiting until the last minute.

Our 2nd Annual Pig Roast is happening on Saturday, September 12, 2026, and honestly, we think it’s going to be one of those afternoons that reminds you how nice it is to slow down for a while.

No cooking.
No hosting.
No dishes waiting for you afterward.

Just good food, good people, and a few hours where you can actually relax.

Meals will be served from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, or until the food supply runs out, whichever comes first.

You can enjoy your meal on our patio or out on our beautiful grounds with family and friends.

The meal includes pig roast, coleslaw, fries, corn, and buns, and we’ll also have apple pie and chocolate cake available for dessert.
Our kids' meal: hot dogs or less pig roast with the same sides.
Food prices on slide 9

Whether you’re a member or you’ve never visited our club before, you’re warmly welcome. This is a family-friendly community event in Waterloo Region, and we’d love for you to experience what makes such a special place.

If you’re planning to come, please pre-order your meal so we can make sure everything is ready for you.

Send your RSVP to [email protected]

Then send your EFT payment to [email protected]

Please include your full name with your EFT so we can match it to your pre-ordered meal.

The people who usually enjoy these events the most are the ones who decide early and make a day of it with the people they love.

So if someone came to mind while you were reading this, share this post with them and say, “Let’s go together.”

I have a feeling this is going to be one of those afternoons you’ll be glad you didn’t miss.

“Wait… you don’t have to be a hunter or fishers (fisherman/woman) to become a member?”

We smiled when someone asked us this recently because, honestly, we’ve heard that question so many times over the years.

A lot of people assume is only for hunters or fishers. We get it. That’s where our club first started, and our German roots are a big part of who we are.

But here’s what we wish more people knew.

Our club has grown into something much bigger than that.

Today, we’re a multi-generational community club in Waterloo Region where people of many different nationalities and backgrounds come together. Some of our members have German heritage. Many don’t. Some have lived here for decades. Others are brand new to the area.

And when you spend time at the club, you stop noticing where people come from because everyone is there for the same reason. They enjoy the events, the food, the conversations, the beautiful grounds, and the feeling that they’re welcome.

That’s actually what makes this place so special.

You don’t need to hunt.
You don’t need to fish.
You don’t need to speak German.

It's all about enjoying being around good people.

Whether it’s our Spring Dance, Pig Roast, Oktoberfest, Christmas Market, or simply spending an afternoon at the club, our club is a place where members and non-members can feel at home.

If you’ve ever wondered what a membership is really about, we’d love to tell you more.

Visit our website or send us a DM. We’re always happy to answer your questions and help you discover what makes our club such a special part of the Waterloo Region community.

Can we be honest about birthdays for a second?

They’re actually one of the few days each year that quietly remind us how many people have been part of our story.

Another year of memories.
Another year of conversations.

Another year of family, friends, traditions, and moments that seemed ordinary at the time but somehow became the ones we remember.

That’s why we never want August birthdays to pass without saying something.

To every member celebrating a birthday this month, **happy birthday from all of us**.

We hope your day is filled with laughter, good food, people who make you feel loved, and at least one moment where you stop and think, “This is actually a pretty good life.”

Whether you’ve been a member for decades or you’ve recently joined our community, thank you for being part of our club.

Clubs like ours aren’t built by buildings or events. They’re built by people, and you are part of what makes this place feel so special year after year.

Literally, we’re grateful for every conversation, every event you’ve attended, every time you’ve supported the club, and every memory you’ve helped create.

So today, we’re celebrating you.

Happy Birthday to all of our August birthday members. May this next year bring you good health, happiness, new adventures, and plenty of reasons to smile.

Share this with someone you know how is celebrating a birthday this month. Our community celebrates with you too.

“Honestly, I don’t think people realize how many volunteers it takes to keep this club going.”

That was a conversation we were having the other day at our club.

And the more we talked, the more we realized something important.

People see the Oktoberfest celebrations.

They see the Pig Roast.
The Christmas Market.
The community events.
The beautiful grounds.

The meals.
The music.
The laughter.

What they don’t always see are the people who show up before everyone arrives.

The people who stay after everyone leaves.
The people who give their time because they care.

Some volunteer for a few hours.
Some volunteer all year.
Some are members.
Some aren’t members at all.

They simply show up out of the kindness of their hearts and ask, “What can I do to help?”

That is what makes special.

It’s actually not just the events.

It’s the people behind the events.

Because every celebration, every event, every community gathering, and every Oktoberfest moment is made possible by someone who quietly gave their time so that someone else could enjoy the day.

To every volunteer who has helped at our club this year, and during Oktoberfest, thank you.

Literally, thank you.

You have no idea how many memories you’ve helped create for families, friends, visitors, and our entire community.

We couldn’t do this without you.
And we never want to stop saying that.

Summer has a way of reminding us to slow down.

To spend a little more time outside.

To enjoy long evenings with family and friends.

To make memories that we'll still be talking about months from now.

As many of you know, we don't have any club events planned for July. It's a chance for all of us to enjoy everything this season has to offer.

Whether you're camping, relaxing by the lake, spending time at your cottage, in your backyard, or taking a well-deserved vacation, we hope your summer is filled with laughter, sunshine, and moments that make you smile.

While you're enjoying the summer, be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, September 12, for our 2nd Annual Pig Roast!

We're already looking forward to welcoming everyone back for another great day of delicious food, community, and making new memories together.

We'll be sharing all the details in August, so keep an eye on our page.

💛 Save this post so you don't forget the date, and share it with someone who enjoys spending time with great people and great food. We'd love to welcome them to our club this September.

Until then, have a safe, relaxing, and wonderful summer.

We'll see you in September!

A few weeks ago, something pretty special (and very exciting) happened at German Canadian Hunting & Fishing Club (Hubertushaus).

A Toronto production company chose our club to film an episode of a brand-new FIFA World Cup series called For The Assist.

They were looking for a place that reflected authentic German culture, community, and tradition.

And they found it right here at our club.

Watching the finished episode reminded us of just how proud we are of this amazing club and the people who make it so special.

A heartfelt thank you to Behaviour Inc. for choosing German Canadian Hunting & Fishing Club (Hubertushaus) as the setting for Episode 5 and for capturing the spirit of our club so beautifully.

Thank you to Cabbie Richards, whose warmth and energy made everyone smile from the moment he arrived. It was a pleasure having you with us.

And thank you to Quinn Stahmer for your kind enthusiasm and for being part of this incredible experience.

And most importantly,

Thank you to every member, guest, and soccer fan who chose our club to come out to cheer on Germany that day.

Although Germany didn't win, your excitement, your camaraderie, and your love for the game brought the atmosphere to life.

To our incredible volunteers, from preparing food, directing parking, welcoming guests, to serving food & beverages, and cleaning up afterward, a full-hearted thank you.

Community events like this wouldn't happen without any of you.

We're honoured that our club was chosen to represent the rich traditions and welcoming spirit of German culture.

Moments like these remind us that German Canadian Hunting & Fishing Club (Hubertushaus) is more than a clubhouse. It's a place where friendships grow, traditions continue, and memories are made.

If you haven't seen the episode yet,

🎥 Press play and enjoy! We'd love to hear what you think, so leave us a comment.

If you're proud to be part of the club community, share this Reel with your friends and family. It's a wonderful way to show them what makes our club so special.
