We fix broken systems for businesses every day. This month, we're supporting those fixing broken systems for people. Our team is walking for a cause! ❄️

This February 28th, Chops founder Celene is joining the Langley Chamber of Commerce Women's Network team for the Coldest Night of the Year walk to support Salvation Army Gateway of Hope, an organization doing the hard work of rebuilding pathways to stability, one person at a time.

At Chops, we believe in building resilient systems that actually work, for both businesses and for our community. Right now, our community's support systems are failing. Homelessness in Metro Vancouver has surged 141% since 2005, and 75% of those without homes have been sleeping outside for over a year (up from 50% in 2020*).

The system isn't just broken. It's trapping people with no way out. Want to help? Donate via our donation link: https://tinyurl.com/Cnoy-campaign, find a walk in your community, or share this post to spread awareness.

It's cold out there. Let's help change that. 💙

Earlier this week, I attended a Women Leading Women event hosted by Deloitte. The panel was led by three incredible women: Susan Senecal (CEO of A&W), Jessie Adcock, ICD.D (FIFA World Cup 26 Vancouver Host Committee Lead), and Lisa Sparrow (President and CEO of Corix).

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to ask them a question that has been on my mind a lot lately: What critical skills do leaders need to focus on developing, to meet the rapidly evolving needs of business and their teams?

Their answers were really impactful, so I'm going to share them here:

Empathy. With technology changing and the world becoming smaller every day, it's more important than ever in conversations to turn off the noise in your head and focus on the present, the person in front of you, and what they are trying to communicate.

Resilience. Things are going to continue to change, and it's important not to panic. Anxiety is more prevalent than ever, so it's important to take care of yourself and your team, while remaining adaptable to the world around you. It's important to hold true to your core values, and use them as your North Star when making decisions.

Recognize that the fundamentals don't change. Technology, products and their delivery may evolve, but the underlying principles of communication and leadership remain the same.

A big thanks to Alliance Advisors, Odyssey Trust Company and Deloitte for putting on this event, and to Alyssa Barry, CPIR for inviting me!

Everyone’s talking about AI search killing SEO. The data tells a different story.

Here’s what most people miss: AI search tools like Google’s AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity rely on the same crawling mechanisms as traditional search. They pull from similar indexes, then synthesize that information into AI-generated answers instead of showing you a list of links. This means that strong SEO that gets you ranked well in Google will also increase your chances of being cited by AI.

The data backs this up: AI Overviews now appear in over 50% of searches. Sites that get cited in those AI Overviews get 35% more clicks than competitors who aren’t cited. Plus, 66% of users say AI citations make products and services more trustworthy. Being cited builds both visibility and credibility.

92% of those AI citations come from domains already ranking in the top 10, so if you’re buried on page three of Google, you’re invisible to AI search too.

This is why SEO still matters in 2026. Maybe even more than before.

Your buyers research before they buy. They’re searching for exactly what you offer - whether typing into Google, asking ChatGPT, or using Perplexity. When they find you through search, they’re already looking for what you sell.

The real advantage? SEO builds over time. Content you publish today continues driving leads for years as your rankings improve and organic search becomes increasingly cost-effective. Paid ads deliver immediate results but require continuous budget. SEO requires ongoing maintenance, but it creates a compounding asset.

The catch? It takes 6-12 months. Most businesses quit too early or never fix the technical foundation that makes it work.

If you’re serious about owning your market, SEO isn’t optional anymore. It’s the infrastructure that feeds both traditional and AI search, becoming the competitive advantage that matters.

What’s your take? Investing in SEO in 2026 or focusing on other channels? Curious to hear your approach. Let us know below! 👇

Meta ads work. When they're set up right, businesses see 3x return on ad spend. Top performers hit conversion rates above 12%.

The problem is most campaigns are broken from the start.

If you are running ads, they might not be getting clicks. Leads may be coming in but they might be unqualified. Conversions might not be happening. The issue usually isn't your ad budget or your audience size. It's your strategy and the systems behind these campaigns.

Common advice falls short. Spend more, test new creative. At Chops, we make sure to first fix the underlying issues that make the difference between wasted ad spend and profitable campaigns.

Swipe through to see the foundational issues that separate wasted ad spend from profitable campaigns.
