Well, this is pretty special. 🥹

Shopland Coaching has been named a FINALIST for the 2026 Langley Community Spirit Award as part of the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards!

Jim and I are genuinely humbled and incredibly grateful.

When we started Shopland Coaching, we knew we wanted to build a successful business doing work we love. What we probably didn’t realize at the time was how much this business would also become a vehicle for giving back to a community that has given so much to our family.

For more than 30 years, Langley has been home.

It’s where we raised our three kids.
Where we coached sports teams, volunteered in schools, served on boards and raised money for causes we cared about.

It’s where our family was surrounded by love and support when our three-year-old daughter was diagnosed with leukemia.
And it’s where we learned from so many incredible community builders what it looks like to simply show up for one another.

Today, through Shopland Coaching, we get to keep doing that in new ways - sharing our expertise, developing leaders, using our voices for causes we believe in, and one of our favourites, connecting good people with good causes and other good people.

To be recognized for COMMUNITY SPIRIT feels especially meaningful because this has never been something separate from our business.

It’s part of who we are.

Thank you to the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce for this recognition, to whoever put our names forward (we still don’t know! ❤️), and to the many people and organizations we’ve had the privilege of serving alongside.

And congratulations to all of this year’s finalists! What a wonderful reminder of just how many good people are doing good things in our community.

Plot twist… we never planned to coach couples who work together. 😂

But after years of hearing:
“How do you guys do it?”
“How do you work together AND stay happily married?”
“What’s your secret?”

…we finally decided maybe we should actually teach it. 😉

So we created a 6-module coaching program for entrepreneurial couples.

And honestly?
It’s been incredible watching strong, capable husband-and-wife teams strengthen their communication, deepen their emotional connection, and learn how to build a business without losing each other in the process.

Because building a business together can be amazing…But it also comes with stress, pressure, different communication styles, big dreams, long days, and blurry boundaries.

What we’ve learned after 35+ years together is this:

Your business should support your life and relationship —not slowly steal from it.

And the good news?
You don’t have to choose between a successful business and a connected marriage. 💛

Turns out… helping couples thrive together may have been part of the plan all along.
