A good friend of mine always said that people are always tuned into WIFM. What's in it for me. It's natural to always assess how changes or new information will impact my life. It's unhealthy in an organization when you subtly or overtly begin to protect your turf, your department, your role against changes that you don't like agree with or that will create more work. At those times we need to step back and see the whole picture, the goals of the whole organization or team. I have found it valuable to work with teams in various activities/exercises and then followup up on team goals and company visions. A good article by Naphtali on the impact of Turf Wars and Silos on the bottom line and ultimate vision to be achieved. https://lnkd.in/g3qt_78

It is an awesome privilege to work with good people and to serve as a leader or "the" leader. With this privilege comes responsibility. To quote Warren Buffet who quotes the Bible. "To whom much is given, much is required". People are not a commodity to be managed. They are a human being who deserves our best leadership and our utmost respect.

How we treat people who we serve, is a indicator of how we actually see people and a reflection of how we really see ourselves. We need wholeness at all levels of our organization, but it is critical in the leaders/owners life. It is possible to sabotage the success of your whole team/company by not addressing the brokenness in our own life.

"Hurt people hurt people.
Wounded people wound people.
Broken people break people.
Bound people bind people.
Damaged people damage people." - Christine Cain

If you have courage, ask some of the leaders around you for their candor, "how do I treat people? How do I make you feel?

Stay in the game whether you are benched or the star. Either one may miss the opportunity since the star is enamoured with their own importance and the benchee is commiserating in their demotion.

We should measure age in levels and not yrs. She's at level 60, sounds better than 60 yrs old! There are some people in their 40's I avoid who are not growing and some in their 70's and 80's who are fully alive and I try to hang with them. Read Thomas: http://ow.ly/SLeb30iwhz5

Customers are much more than a transactional experience. It's an opportunity to bring a delightful experience to their lives. Some call it customer service, but it is more like creating sparkle and not just light.
