Sundays sound different in every house.

In some, Sunday sounds like quiet mornings, coffee, and an empty room that finally feels still.

In others, it sounds like cartoons in the background, little feet running down the hallway, dishes clinking, laundry spinning, and someone asking for a snack approximately 47 times before noon.

Some Sundays are peaceful.
Some are loud.
Some are lonely.
Some are full.

And sometimes, the same house can sound completely different from one Sunday to the next.

There’s no right way for your Sunday to sound.

So what does yours sound like today?

Five days ago, we opened the first page of our Field Guide together.

This week we talked about building through the mess.

We reminded ourselves that life doesn't have to be perfect before we begin.
We challenged the "I'll start when..." mindset.
We named the things that have been weighing us down.

We chose one brick to lay instead of trying to build the whole house.
And we celebrated progress, even if it felt small.
Now I'd love to end the week with one simple question.

What did this week teach you?

Maybe it reminded you that you don't have to have it all figured out.

Maybe it gave you permission to begin.
Maybe it helped you realize you've been carrying too much.

Or maybe your lesson has nothing to do with anything I posted.

That's okay too.

The best lessons are often the ones we discover ourselves.

When we're building something meaningful, it's easy to focus on everything that's still unfinished.

The goals we haven't reached.
The plans we haven't started.
The dreams that still feel far away.

We spend so much time looking at what still needs to be built that we forget to look back at what we've already accomplished.

That isn't how builders work.
They don't stand at the end of the week discouraged because the house isn't finished.

They celebrate the walls that went up.
The foundation that was poured.
The brick they laid today.

This week wasn't about building the whole house.
It was about choosing to build anyway.

Maybe your brick was making the phone call.
Maybe it was asking for help.
Maybe it was taking a walk.
Maybe it was resting without guilt.
Maybe it was simply getting through a difficult day without giving up.

Whatever your brick looked like...
It matters.

Every strong home is built one brick at a time.
Before we head into the weekend, I want to celebrate something.

My brick this week was showing up here.

After months of dreaming, planning, doubting, and waiting for the "perfect time," I finally stopped waiting and started building again.
And I'm so grateful you're building alongside me.
Now it's your turn.

One of the biggest reasons we stop building is because we look at the whole house.

We see everything that's unfinished.

Everything that's broken.
Everything that's going to take time.
And it feels impossible.

But builders don't finish a house in a day.

They lay one brick.
Then another.
Then another.

The same is true for our lives.

You don't have to fix everything today.
You don't have to solve every problem.
You don't have to know every answer.
You just have to ask yourself one question:
"What's the next brick?"

Maybe it's making the appointment you've been avoiding.
Maybe it's drinking a glass of water.
Maybe it's opening your laptop.
Maybe it's forgiving yourself.
Maybe it's resting because you're exhausted.

Every brick counts.
And every brick moves you forward.
So today...

Building through the mess doesn't begin with fixing it.

It begins with being honest about it.

We say things like...

"Everything feels overwhelming."

"My life is a mess."

"I don't even know where to start."

But what if we slowed down for a minute?

What if instead of carrying one giant pile called "the mess," we started giving each piece a name?

Maybe it isn't everything.
Maybe it's...
Fear.
Burnout.
Money.
Self-doubt.
A relationship that's changing.
A dream you've put on hold.

When we name the mess, something shifts.
It stops being this giant cloud hanging over us and becomes something we can actually work through.
Because builders don't renovate an entire house all at once.

They walk into one room.
They assess it.
Then they begin.

One room.
One brick.
One day at a time.

So today, I'd love to ask you?

Stop Waiting for "When..."

Have you ever noticed how often we put our lives on hold?

"I'll start when..."
When I have more money.
When I lose the weight.
When work slows down.
When the kids are older.
When I'm less overwhelmed.
When I feel ready.

I know I've said every one of those things at some point.
The problem isn't that those things aren't important.
The problem is believing our lives can't move forward until every condition is perfect.

If we're honest, life has never been perfect.
There has always been something.
Another bill.
Another setback.
Another responsibility.
Another reason to wait.

That's why this week's Field Note matters so much.
Life is messy. Build it anyway.
Building anyway doesn't mean pretending everything is okay.

It means refusing to let imperfect circumstances become permanent excuses.
Maybe today your "building" isn't launching the business.
Maybe it's sending the email.
Taking the walk.
Making the appointment.
Opening the notebook.
Having the difficult conversation.
Tiny bricks still build strong houses.

So today, I want to ask you:
