Who do you know who would be a great fit to work for a family run business?

This business is one of my SOS / QBO implementations from last year and is located close to the Anthony Henday on the north side of the Edmonton.

Due to the nature of a small business environment, they are looking for someone who is reliable, well rounded and willing to take on all sorts tasks with a “get to it” attitude to get the job done.

Basic bookkeeping knowledge and excel are a must. Ideally some QuickBooks Online &/or SOS experience would be great, although training can be made available for the person who qualifies for the “right fit” criteria.

This is a dog-friendly and people friendly environment. My clients are all about family and understand that sometimes there might be the need for vet appointments, dental appointments, etc. This is why they have a flexible work place. Having said this, don’t expect to take one day off each week for personal issues. Around Christmas time, in the past they have given paid time off for a Christmas break to spend with family. If the person they hire is in it for the long haul, they expect to carry this on going forward.

My clients are hiring for the best fit and they want someone who will fit in well with a small business, has a willingness to take on whatever needs to be done and is committed to being the long term employee they are hoping for.

Starting wage would be reflective of skills and software experience, with review after 6 months. This is a Monday to Friday job.

My personal comment on this business, as I know them very well.

This is a great company and for someone who wants to take a job and make it their own, they would love working here. If they want to be treated like a person, this is the place for them. Any smaller business job I have had in the past, within 6 months the work I was doing far exceeded the job description I was hired for. I really think this would be the same, your skillset and initiative will determine exactly what you are doing 6 months or 12 months from now.

BYOB (Be Your Own Bookkeeper) QuickBooks Online Workshop

4 Mondays from 10:00 am to 11:30 am starting Monday, Sept 14 and going to Monday, Oct 5.

You will learn the basics so that you can do your everyday bookkeeping
Week 1 - the basics to get a good understanding on the basics that serve as the foundation for bookkeeping
Week 2 - the revenues side - customers, invoicing, receiving payments.
Week 3 - the expenses side - suppliers, bills, expenses, making payments
Week 4 - the month end process - bank & credit card reconciliations, what to watch out for, fixing minor mistakes you find.

You must be registered and have paid for the course in advance of start date.

How to Evolve Your Business

The year is 2019, business functions sure changed in the last few decades. There used to be a time when we were inundated with paper, bills came in the mail, our software was on a desktop and that is where you sat to do your work. Go figure - you actually talked to your co-workers to get information or took our paper cheques to the bank to be deposited.
In the new era, the new buzzwords are "virtual", "automation", "paperless". Much of the work that I do, I can do from anywhere that I have internet access. I can do work for my clients, run payrolls, train via Zoom and have my software automate processes so I have less manual work to do.

The joys of a virtual business. I am currently travelling for a family wedding. This does not stop me from servicing my clients and working on my business. My service levels and fast response time still meet the same standards that I have set.

Boot Camp Classes - Exercise For Your Brain

QuickBooks Online Boot Camp Series - 15 classes
QuickBooks Desktop Boot Camp Series - 14 classes
Sage 50 Boot Camp Series - 13 classes

Each class is 3 hours long and hands on. A different topic is covered in each boot camp class.

Examples:
- Setting up your data file
- payroll
- Sales Transactions
- Job Costing
- Bank Reconciliations
- Inventory
- Banking Fees and Banking Rules

If you are an experienced with your accounting software but struggling with one component, you can take only one Boot Camp class in this area of concern.

If you are brand new to your accounting software, you can take Boot Camp a series of classes one at a time at a pace that you area comfortable with.

If you want a full blown training course that is all encompassing from start to finish (21 hours in length, hands on), I offer these classes as well.
