Do I need to charge sales tax on patient fees and retail products?

A lot of medical and healthcare services are considered GST exempt. However, retail items like skin care products, supplements, braces, and aromatherapy oils etc. are not exempt. Meaning you need to charge GST on these items.

To stay audit-proof and compliant with the CRA, you need to track these two revenue streams separately in your accounting software. When in doubt, always verify your specific industry regulations directly on the CRA website!

A bookkeeper and a VA are not the same thing. Your business actually needs both, but for totally different reasons.

5 years ago a friend told me to just open a business. So, I did.

Then I freaked out! I ran it as a small side hustle trying to navigate how in the heck someone goes from a full time job to going all in on your own. 2 years ago I threw in the employee towel and have been running this ever since.

There have been MANY doubts, freak outs, tears, joy, broken keyboards, and celebrations; boy is entrepreneurship fun haha.

What started off as Nitty Gritty Bookkeeping, turned in NG Finances and went from just me handling it all to having a VA and an employee. What a change!

Today, I celebrate 5 years of NG Finances. 5 years of growth, both personally and professionally. 5 years of celebrating my clients successes.
