Prepping a huge meal is so much work. It’s even more work when your kitchen is working against you.

I want you to sit with this for a second and ask yourself:

Did the roasting pan have an actual home or did it live behind everything else in the lowest cupboard?

Did you know exactly where the turkey baster was when you needed it or did you spend ten minutes looking for it while everything else was on the stove?

Did your spice drawer make sense or were you digging through it hoping the sage was in there somewhere?

Did you end up using a measuring cup instead of your gravy boat because you couldn’t find it in time?

If your kitchen showed up for you this weekend that’s amazing. Give yourself credit for that. 👏

But if it felt like a bit of a battle and cooking felt harder than it needed to because nothing quite had a home, Christmas is coming. Then New Year’s. Then Easter. Then somehow summer hosting again. Happy Thanksgiving to all of my Canadian friends. 🍂

This is one of my absolute favourite holidays of the year. Not just because I love gravy more than life itself (although that's absolutely part of it!), but because of everything that comes with it. The smell of the fall air, the leaves turning colour, the cooler weather I have been waiting for since approximately May 21st, and that post-turkey family walk we go on every single year.

Thanksgiving is a really good reminder to slow down and take it all in.

Our girls are getting older by the second and the life that Mr. All-Ways and I are building keeps getting better. Every once in a while I stop and think about where I was three, five, ten years ago and how much that version of me would have absolutely loved to be exactly where I am right now.

This business has given us so much and we are not even close to done yet. There is so much more to build and do and share and organize.

To everyone who has booked with us, referred us, followed along, or just cheered us on from the sidelines (I see you double tapping my posts and my reels!). Thank you. ✨

I did a brand shoot this week with the lovely .brands and it always prompts me to think about why I do what I do.

Although so freaking satisfying, it's not just for the before and after photos.

The pile by the door is a system. The junk drawer is a system. The chair in your bedroom that exclusively holds clothes that aren't totally clean but aren't entirely dirty is absolutely a system. The counter that somehow collects every single thing that doesn't have a home is a system.
