We are so excited to have Cynthia and her team at D'Limo Nails and Spa join the downtown community! The space has been designed with care to offer everyone a welcoming and relaxing experience, whether you're treating yourself to a solo spa day or making a day of it with your friends.

They offer a wide variety of services including manicures, gel manicures, specialty pedicures, nail art, waxing, and lash services. Their Grand Opening is this Sunday, September 6th, and we cannot wait for Lindsay to experience it!

Heart Behind the Business 🩷 | Jen Arnold Owner of The Sweet Kitchen 🍪

For Jen, owner of The Sweet Kitchen, baking is a passion she has carried since childhood. Thirty years later, not much has changed.

Jen went to school for baking and pastry at Algonquin College, went on to work at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa, and eventually found her way back to what she'd always wanted, something small, charming, and entirely her own. After sixteen years baking from home and selling at farmers' markets, she found the right space on Kent Street. The Sweet Kitchen opened its doors in November 2022, and the moment you walk through the door, you know you're somewhere special. The bright and cheery pink exterior. The tin ceiling. The smell of butter and chocolate and cream that stops people in their tracks.

"It's happiness," she says simply. And it shows.

Jen takes pride in keeping things as local as possible, from the honey sold in store to the coffee roasted in Ontario. The menu is filled with favourites made from scratch: the salted caramel brownie, the burnt butter caramel bar, the butter tarts, and if you're lucky enough to visit Thursday through Saturday, don't leave without a cream puff. The flavours rotate monthly, and Jen will tell you cream puffs are her favourite thing to make. Choux pastry, the light, airy dough, is notoriously tricky to get right, but Jen makes it look easy. "It's just magic," she says.

What keeps her going after all these years? The people. The reactions. The fact that no two days are ever the same.
