Major Changes to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)!
Ontario has officially launched Phase 1 of a major redesign of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), effective June 26, 2026.
Here are the key updates:
-A new Ontario Workforce Priority Stream will replace the previous 8 OINP streams.
-The new stream will include pathways for:
β’ TEER 0β3 occupations
β’ TEER 4β5 occupations
β’ Self-employed physicians
-New minimum language and education requirements have been introduced to strengthen the program.
-Employers in rural and northern Ontario will benefit from more flexible business revenue requirements.
Important Notice for Current OINP Candidates
β’ The Expression of Interest (EOI) system is now closed.
β’ No further invitations will be issued under the former OINP streams.
β’ Existing EOIs that have not received an Invitation to Apply will be withdrawn during the system transition.
β’ Eligible applicants will be able to submit a new EOI once the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream opens later this summer.
β’ Applications already submitted after receiving an invitation will continue to be processed under the rules that were in effect when they were submitted.
If you are planning to apply through Ontario or are unsure how these changes affect your immigration plans, now is the time to get professional advice.
