NEW EXPRESS ENTRY JOB-OFFER POINTS: IS YOUR OCCUPATION ON THE LIST?

Canada is planning a new approach to Express Entry CRS points, with additional points for eligible high-wage job offers and qualifying Canadian work experience.

According to the announced changes, starting November 3, 2026, eligible candidates may receive additional points based on their occupation’s median wage category.

πŸ”Ή 100 CRS points β€” Occupations meeting the 2Γ— wage threshold
πŸ”Ή 70 CRS points β€” Occupations meeting the 1.5Γ— wage threshold
πŸ”Ή 50 CRS points β€” Occupations meeting the 1.3Γ— wage threshold

πŸ“Œ The occupation lists include various fields, such as management, healthcare, engineering, technology, finance, skilled trades and more.

What should you check?
βœ”οΈ Find your occupation and corresponding NOC code.
βœ”οΈ Review the applicable wage category.
βœ”οΈ Check whether your job offer or Canadian work experience meets the eligibility requirements.
βœ”οΈ Follow IRCC instructions before updating your Express Entry profile.

⚠️ Important: Being on the occupation list does not automatically guarantee additional CRS points, an ITA or permanent residence. Eligibility requirements apply, and the rules should be confirmed against the latest official IRCC guidance before taking action.

MAJOR EXPRESS ENTRY UPDATE β€” NEW CRS POINTS FOR HIGH-WAGE OCCUPATIONS!

Canada is introducing changes to Express Entry that could give eligible candidates additional CRS points based on high-wage job offers or qualifying Canadian work experience.

πŸ“Œ What’s changing from November 3, 2026?

βœ… Eligible high-wage job offers may qualify for up to 100 additional CRS points.

βœ… Qualifying Canadian work experience may provide up to 70 additional CRS points.

βœ… LMIA requirements will be removed for qualifying job offers under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), subject to applicable requirements.

⚠️ Important things to know:
β€’ Your occupation must meet the applicable eligibility and wage-factor requirements.
β€’ Canadian work experience must meet the specified conditions.
β€’ Job offer and work experience points are not added together under the new factor; the higher qualifying sub-factor applies.
β€’ Express Entry invitation rounds are expected to pause temporarily while CRS scores are recalculated.

These changes could create new opportunities for eligible skilled workers planning to become permanent residents of Canada.

Canada PR: Married vs. Single β€” How Does Your Spouse Affect Your CRS Score?

Did you know your marital situation can affect how your Express Entry CRS points are calculated?

πŸ“Š Here’s the key difference:
πŸ”Ή Without an accompanying spouse: Up to 500 core human capital points
πŸ”Ή With an accompanying spouse: Up to 460 core human capital points
πŸ”Ή Spouse factors: Up to 40 additional points for your spouse’s education, language proficiency, and Canadian work experience.

⚠️ Important: These are maximum points under specific CRS factorsβ€”not your guaranteed score. Your actual CRS score depends on your individual profile and the applicable IRCC rules. If your spouse is not accompanying you, or is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, different scoring rules may apply.

Planning to apply for Canadian PR? Understand your CRS score before making important decisions.
