1. Make your donor the hero in your narrative.

2. Prioritize human stories.

3. Segment your audience (first-time donors, major donors, etc.) and tailor your message for each.

4. Master your social media and curate stories with video.

5. Prioritize donor stewardship by thanking them promptly.

1. Openability - Will your donor open your letter or email?

2. Readability - Can they easily read your message?

3. Scanability - Can they quickly skim it and still get the point?
