The marketing strategy that's probably holding you back. đź‘€

Most business owners don't struggle because they lack ideas. They struggle because they think every post needs to be brilliant.

So they wait.
➡️ Until they have more time.
➡️ Until they have the perfect graphic.
➡️ Until they've rewritten the caption one more time.

Meanwhile, weeks go by without posting.

What we’ve seen in our work with business owners? Consistency builds visibility far more effectively than perfection.

One helpful post published today will always outperform the perfect post that never gets shared.

If your social media has been sitting on your to-do list for months, don't focus on creating something extraordinary.

Focus on creating something useful.

Then do it again next week.

That's how momentum is built.

And if you need some help, that’s what we’re here for. Book your free 30-minute consultation today, and let’s start building marketing momentum, together. https://bit.ly/4fmYdCA

You know what a great Centre of Influence does for your practice. But what if your most powerful COI isn't a person at all?

For Canadian financial advisors, it's AI.

According to Gartner (a leading global research and advisory firm), search engine volume will drop 25% in 2026 as more people turn to AI platforms over traditional search. And According to Ahrefs, a reputable SEO and digital marketing platform, AI-driven search referrals convert up to 23 times higher than traditional search visitors. Why? Because by the time AI refers someone to you, the vetting is already done through user prompts and conversation. The trust is already established.

And with AI-generated summaries now appearing above organic search results – if you're not visible to the AI, you're becoming invisible to prospects.

So how do you build a relationship with this new COI? The same way you always have – through consistent messaging, a clear value proposition and a credible presence.

Ask yourself:

âś… Is your website set up for effective crawling and SEO?
âś… Does your Google Business Profile signal high trust and regular activity?
âś… Does your content clearly define who you are and who you serve?
âś… Does your social media presence signal relevance and authority?

This isn't another "get on the AI bus or get left behind" message. It's simply an outline of some straightforward steps you can leverage in your business to optimize the AI that's already out there to position your business effectively.

And if you're not sure where to start – we're here to help.

There’s something incredibly valuable about protecting time to step away from the day-to-day and come together as a team to reflect, plan, and grow.

Yesterday our entire team gathered for an offsite planning session focused on where our business is headed, what our clients are asking for, and how we can continue evolving to meet the changing marketing and financial services landscape. We spent time exploring new ideas, identifying efficiencies, and challenging ourselves to think differently about how we serve our clients and support one another.

What makes these planning days truly meaningful, though, is the opportunity to connect as people — not just colleagues. Creating space where every idea, perspective, and voice is heard and valued strengthens not only our business, but our culture as well.

We've intentionally built a strong team united by a common goal, committed to continuous improvement, and excited about what’s ahead.

One thing many financial advisors underestimate is how much their brand influences client confidence.

You can be exceptional at what you do. But if your business doesn’t look established, professional, and consistent, prospective clients may quietly question how capable your practice really is — and whether you’re in it for the long haul.

When someone is trusting you with their finances, they’re not just evaluating your expertise.
They’re evaluating your stability, professionalism, and credibility through every interaction.

- Your website
- Your social media presence
- Your presentations
- Your email signatures
- Your onboarding materials
- The way your documents are designed

People want to feel confident that the advisor they choose today will still be there years from now.

The good news? Professional branding, customer engagement and marketing doesn’t have to break the bank.

Sometimes it’s the simple things — consistent visuals, polished client materials, clear messaging, professional presentations, and an intentional online presence — that make the biggest difference.

Small, strategic improvements can completely change how your business is perceived and help eliminate those silent client concerns around credibility and longevity.

We help financial professionals build brands and client experiences that feel established, trustworthy, and built to last.

Because in financial services, perception matters — and every touchpoint is part of your reputation.

Most design conversations start in the wrong place.

“What should it look like?”

It’s a natural question, but it skips over the part that actually matters.

Before design is visual, it’s functional.

It’s deciding what someone sees first. What they understand quickly. What feels easy to follow (and what doesn’t!)

Because every piece of design quietly shapes behaviour, including where someone pauses, what they skip, and whether they keep going or lose interest.

That’s not about colours or fonts. That’s about structure.

We see this often when reviewing websites or marketing materials. Nothing looks “wrong,” but something still doesn’t work. The message gets buried. The flow feels off. The next step isn’t obvious.

Strong design creates a path. It gives information a clear order and helps someone move through it without having to think too hard about what to do next.

When that path is clear, everything else, including messaging, positioning and calls to action, lands more effectively.

When it’s not, even strong ideas can get lost.

Design isn’t there to decorate what you’ve already created.

It’s there to shape how it’s experienced.

Here we grow again! 🎉

We’re proud to welcome Shawna Dennis to the team as our newest Senior Consultant and SagePath’s first Fractional CMO.

With more than 20 years of experience in financial services, Shawna has built a career helping advisors and firms find their voice – the kind that builds trust, connects with the right clients, and makes complex ideas feel human.

She’s led global brand and marketing strategies at organizations like Manulife, MD Financial, and KPMG, driving meaningful growth, shaping thought leadership, and guiding teams through moments of transformation. From launching advisor social selling programs to building scalable content systems, her work consistently brings clarity and direction to complex environments.

At SagePath, Shawna will be working closely with our clients to strengthen positioning, elevate their brand, and bring structure to how they show up in the market.

Outside of work, Shawna serves as Chair of the Board for Lighthouse for Grieving Children, and you’ll often find her at the gym, reading a good book, or cheering on the Jays or the Habs with her family nearby.

We’re thrilled to have her on the team. Welcome Shawna!

“We leverage integrated, multi-channel strategies to optimize client outcomes.”

Or:

“We help you stay organized, focused, and moving forward.”

Both are trying to say something similar. Only one really makes sense.

In professional services there’s often a temptation to sound impressive, whether that means using more complex language, adding extra detail, or saying things in a way that feels elevated. But more often than not, it has the opposite effect.

It creates distance.

When someone has to work to understand what you’re saying, they’re far less likely to engage with it. And in many cases, they won’t.

Clarity does the opposite. It builds trust.

When you can explain something simply, it shows you understand it. It signals confidence in your thinking, and it makes it easier for someone to see how you can actually help.

The strongest communication tends to be simple – not because it’s basic, but because it’s clear, intentional, and easy to understand.

Being impressive might catch someone’s attention for a moment. But being clear is what keeps it.

“Fractional leadership” is one of those terms you hear a lot right now.

It’s become a bit of a catch-all, used to describe everything from occasional advisory work to more embedded support. And while it sounds good, it doesn’t always paint a clear picture of what the work actually looks like.

👉 Here’s what it means to us.

It’s not about dropping in occasionally or advising from a distance. It’s about becoming part of the team in a real, practical way.

When we work with clients in this capacity, we’re part of leadership conversations. We join team meetings and work alongside the people responsible for ex*****on. Because most challenges aren’t solved at a high level – they're worked through in the day-to-day.

We see it often: strong firms that have good people and clear goals, but are trying to navigate competing priorities, unclear direction, or stalled momentum.

That’s where we come in.

Sometimes it looks like helping leadership clarify a growth strategy and staying close as it’s implemented. Other times, it’s about being in the room consistently and helping prioritize what matters to keep things moving.

It’s hands-on and collaborative by design.

The goal isn’t to act as an outsider, but to feel like an extension of your team, and someone who helps turn direction into progress.
