As a taxidermist you never know what you will find in an animal. I've mounted radio collared deer, fisher with GPS tracker and chip and now a black bear with a chip in the skin between it's shoulder.
I'm surprised my first pass on the fleshing machine didn't get it.

This is Shea and she was here for a one week summer apprenticeship to learn about taxidermy. She had the chance to spend 2 days with my apprentice Ariane learning about mounting a chimera
She helped prep a bear hide
Helped mount deer and mounted her very first bird.
A beautiful ruffed grouse, I only help with inserting wires and some skinning.
She is a talented artist to boot ( check out picture of grouse she drew).
I hope to see her again in the future and teach her a bit more of this great trade

Ariane did an amazing job on her first deer and a muley no less.
The deer belongs to one of her friends in Alberta .
The only thing I touch were the eyes to help show her how to tuck the skin.
She truly wants to learn all the skills it takes.
Congrats on your first deer shoulder mount.
Proud teacher

Words cannot say how proud I am of this young lady. Ariane asked me last summer If I could teach her a few things in taxidermy. Thanks to my friend Kyle who gave her first 6 ducks to practice on. Ariane got better with each bird and had no fear in mounting them in different positions.
The ducks pics are in order that she mounted them.

She is now starting to work on lifesize
Stayed tuned for updates on her progress.

2 beautiful big bobcats gone home.
I don't get the chance to mount many of these (probably 6 or 7 lifetime) , but when I do , I enjoy it .
Cats are to me, are the prettiest of all predators
