Lately it seems like once or twice a day I come across some major drama in my feed regarding professional services in this industry.
“The vet misdiagnosed” everyone deserves to know.
“The saddle maker was late getting me my order” buyer beware.
“This hauler had a horse die on their trailer” cancel them.
“The breeding specialist had a mix up” spread the word.
“Look at the condition my horse came in from the trainer, time to lawyer up” when the horse actually just looks fit and in shape instead of one bite away from founder and a heart attack.
Quite honestly, it’s exhausting and depressing.
***Let me be clear. I do not necessarily agree with how these situations were handled by the professional service providers. However, no one is perfect. And both sides of the story are never shared.
If it’s so easy, do it yourself. And pretty soon you probably will have to - because there will be no one willing to work in the horse industry anymore with the direction it’s going.
I have a LONG list of clients, businesses, and equine service providers that I wouldn’t touch with a 10’ pole, I could share lengthy stories about, and provide a mile long list of receipts.
If you ask me my opinion, I will give it with brutal honestly. But this public shaming and cancel culture is embarrassing to the industry and everyone really needs to grow up.
Sh*t happens. Resolve it the best you can. Learn from the mistakes. Form your own opinions. And then move on.
If you have time to wallow in the drama, you don’t have enough horses to ride.
Sincerely,
