Does the job description still describe the job?

In a growing business, roles can change quickly. Responsibilities get added and employees take on more, while the job description stays the same.

That gap can create confusion around expectations, accountability and compensation.

This week’s HR Check-In looks at role creep, keeping job descriptions aligned.

If the job has changed, it may be time to update the job description.

Difficult conversations are uncomfortable. But avoiding them rarely makes the problem easier.

When does “temporary” stop feeling temporary?

A vacancy remains open. Work gets redistributed. Weeks turn into months. The same employees continue carrying the extra load.

When disruption drags on, the uncertainty can become harder than the disruption itself.

Leaders need to communicate, adapt expectations and pay attention to the people carrying the additional weight.

This week's HR Check-In looks at what leaders can do when waiting for “normal” is no longer a strategy.

Your workplace culture is being shaped every day.

Employees notice what leaders address, what they ignore, what they reinforce and whether expectations are applied consistently.

If disrespect, poor communication or missed expectations are repeatedly allowed to continue, employees may learn that those behaviours are acceptable.

This week's HR Check-In looks at why culture is not just what you say you value. It is what you consistently allow, reinforce, address and model.

Inclusion is often misunderstood as needing to fully understand every culture, background, or identity on your team.

In reality, inclusive leadership is about creating space through how meetings are run, how conversations are handled, and how employees are allowed to contribute.

This week’s HR Check-In looks at the practical behaviours that make the biggest difference.
