🛑 Medicine Hat – It’s Time for Accountability. 🏳️🌈
If we want real community, we have to ask real questions.
Today, Prairie Pride Guild is hosting an “Ask Us Anything” event.
We’re encouraging every 2SLGBTQIA+ community member to show up and speak up.
Because this isn’t just about programming or parties—it’s about the harm that’s been done.
Over the couple of years, former leaders who raised valid safety concerns—about far-right threats, internal dynamics, and exclusionary practices—were pushed out, ignored, and discredited.
But it wasn’t just leaders.
Countless q***r community members who tried to get involved were met with hostile personalities, dismissiveness, or an inner circle mentality that made them feel unwelcome, unsafe, and unseen.
This isn’t a call for drama.
This is a call for accountability.
This is about truth, healing, and repairing the division that was already caused by those in power.
🎤 If you’re attending the event, ask:
1. Why were safety-focused leaders excluded instead of supported?
2. What is being done to address harm and truly rebuild trust?
3. How is the Guild actively protecting marginalized members, particularly racialized, disabled, or trans leaders, from being undermined or excluded in decision-making?
4. How can community members safely raise concerns about internal issues without fear of being pushed out, misrepresented, or retaliated against?
5. What safeguards are in place to prevent misinformation or miscommunication from being used internally to discredit or silence community members or volunteers?
6. How does Prairie Pride Guild ensure that its leadership and decision-making are free from political influence that could endanger 2SLGBTQIA+ safety and advocacy efforts?
7. How does the Guild avoid becoming a gatekeeping body influenced by political agendas that don’t reflect the grassroots needs of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community?
Because real Pride is more than a logo. It’s about courage, inclusion, and accountability—even when it’s uncomfortable.
