I’m incredibly grateful to share that we’ve been awarded a Methanex Gives Community Giving grant to help bring more children and families into the Prairie Rose Public Schools school bee yard.
This project is about access, opportunity and belonging.
Recently, I watched a 2-year-old and 4-year-old, safely suited up with their families, walk toward a buzzing hive. With gentle encouragement from Stella Sehn the programs lead, their anxiety turned into curiosity and wonder.
It reminded me: we can do hard things when we feel supported and protected.
That’s what this project is about—opening a door for families who may never otherwise experience a farm, apiary or beekeeper.
Agriculture belongs to all of us. This work connects with the vision of Nichole Neubauer, whose Growing Minds farm tours began by bringing children onto the farm to experience agriculture firsthand. Nichole’s vision was simple but powerful: give children the opportunity to experience agriculture, ask questions and learn through doing. Her farm tours eventually reached more than 22,000 children.
Thank you, Methanex, for investing in community learning and the future of agriculture, and Stella for helping create a safe and welcoming experience.
